In your view, which are couple different companies that aren’t very big (not FAANG level yet), but you think will become quite successful? Which of them are mission driven and you’d be sad if they later become “corrupted”?

Isn’t “what” the easy part? I thought the leadership is more about why they are doing what they are doing and why is that important/not important. Something which LLMs are not great at today, but aren’t terrible and can make some good guesses at times.

I have been trying to run Qwen Coder models (8B at 4bit) on my M3 Pro 18GB behind Ollama and connecting codex CLI to it. The tool usage seems practically zero, like it returns the tool call in text JSON and codex CLI doesn’t run the tool (just displays the tool call in text). Has anyone succeeded in doing something like this? What am I missing?

What would a good coding model to run on an M3 Pro (18GB) to get Codex like workflow and quality? Essentially, I am running out quick when using Codex-High on VSCode on the $20 ChatGPT plan and looking for cheaper / free alternatives (even if a little slower, but same quality). Any pointers?

Experts will be in denial of LLMs for a long time, while the non-experts will swiftly use it to bridge their own knowledge gap. This is the use case for LLMs, maybe more so than 100% correctness.

I don’t like watching videos (or rather can’t watch at night, but can read). To date I haven’t found an AI that can produce a good article from a video. No, not just transcribe the video but actually produce a quality article with images and stuff from the video. Like a human who is instructed as “watch this video and produce a very high quality article that talks about the things talked about in the video”.

Has anyone has any luck with this?

It would be awesome if I can give this link to AI that will produce a PDF, each video being a chapter in the PDF.

YES! If you’re actually in India, you will know how useful Twitter has been with this. People are amplifying tweets about other people’s needs and other folks are sharing verified leads. All of this without any incentive to do so. Where the government is daily failing, citizens are rising to the occasion.

Is there a technical way that would prevent Mighty to read my passwords (if it wanted to)? Or do I have to trust Mighty won’t do that?

Any plans of launching for Teams? I guess bigger companies (who were already on outlook) have heavily adopted Teams (and I believe these games might be something that HR teams at bigger companies might be interested in).

Also by definition there won’t be. Because two apps can capture 60% market share, there’s still 40% to be captured. Free markets would incentivise people to come up with at least 2 other players, no?

The rule being referred to, I believe, is that RBI doesn’t want any single payment app to have more than 30% market share. I believe, that’s a good thing and good to see it being thought out much earlier in the lifecycle of UPI. When it comes to people’s money, it’s in the interest of the country not to have monopolies.

I interviewed with booking.com in Amsterdam a couple years ago and it was the same thing — same questions testing prep.

Unfortunately, interviews, as they are currently, are more an indicator of preparation rather than job performance. It’s a game; you gotta play it.

I still want to be able to charge my phone and listen to music using the headphone jack. How is that not even a use case anymore? I don’t like the AirPods because they are too easy to lose, and I’m so clumsy with headphones that I buy cheap ones every month, which comes with headphone jack only.

I think Apple made a very bad UX, and never cared about users. I moved to Android phones as a result, which frankly aren’t as inferior as they used to be 4 years ago.

How much do you make from Toptal? A year ago I started the process with them, and they told me that they generally have regional rates. They corrected that programmers are free to choose their own hourly rates, but hinted that you won't get projects if your hourly rate is higher than average (They did not openly tell this, but the implication was clear).

They mentioned that the average hourly rate for India was $20 -- something which is way below what I make in the day-job in India. Also, I have worked at much higher rates as a freelancer.

At $20, I just decided that going through their arduous interview process was simply not worth it.

What has been your experience?

Can I still use AWS though? Does the setup scripts remain the same? I had already set up an AWS server (my company has provided us some cash for personal learning) from the old lessons, but haven't started the lessons yet.
