The problem is not the builders. The problem is those who hold them back: government red tape, bureaucracy and investors who prefer to put their money on another cat app.

I don't get why it's not ok to steal food from a grocery store but it is ok to not pay rent. Both are basic necessities and in both cases you hurt someone else by not paying for service (food/shelter).

Code review is not linter. Code review is a chance to discuss design, scaling, trade-offs and mentor others. I don't think this solution will offer it.

I would love to attend as long as people start fresh projects at that day. Ideally people will find new partners and form new teams around shared idea. Otherwise it will become another YC pich night for mature(ish) products.

Maps is the main app that I wish would open automatically. Each time someone shares a location with me or if I need to drive somewhere it's very lengthy to open the native app. Sometimes the address doesn't stick and I need to type it again.

I'm using Firefox for a while now (both on desktop and mobile) and I love it. The only missing part for me on Android is that Firefox doesn't open native apps (YouTube, maps, Instagram etc..) when you open a link. The integration with built in apps like chrome has is not there.

We collect every new submission and comment from Hacker News, and once every 5 minutes or so (assuming I don't break something).

just look for "remote" on the page. the location for each company is in the last column.

interesting fact - out of the top 100 companies, (only?) 4 are remote.

2 issues i have with this "process":

1 - take-home task of "only" 6 hours. that's on top of the onsite (~6 hours) and a few hours for phone call and followups. that's too much for an unpaid job.

2 - they try to find people they know to sniff around about the candidate. that's usually bad as you can jeopardize the candidate's current job (usually people interview while still working at another place). overall this post made me want to work at firebase even less now.

I use pocket audio feature all the time and the robotic sound is far from good indeed. It's hard for me to see how you scale it to every article out there but I guess focusing on a niche is good to start. Good luck and really hope this will work out.

It's NOT free. It now gives you annoying popups to upgrade to subscription paid version. Very shady marketing to call it free.

when was the last time Google had a successful consumer-facing product? looks like they just keep shutting down products in the past few years.

I find other ethnics to be more discriminated nowadays. mostly Asians(that include Indians) and Latin American.
