I will say it was a mind blowing experience to learn after decades of buddhist practice other people were LITERALLY seeing things (and in some cases trying not to). I never found it detracted from my experience as learning to NOT get distracted by that stuff is half the battle for a lot of people. So it can be a warp whistle in some ways. It is also why I am probably more interested in playing/listening to heavy doom music as it is hypnotic in its monotony. I reckon it is why I am fixated on genera lisp, smalltalk, self esque environments as they are more tangible for creating scenes on the screen that match how I am thinking about code (inside out and all that).
It’s comforting to remember that a lot of the research from st/self eg hotspot went into the jvm. So whenever I am writing clojure I feel I am still, in a way, hanging out with all of my (lang) friends.
Because there was a very conscious attempt to destroy cybernetics. Resulting in MIT etc becoming a school that builds human calculators for Harvard/biz grads to utilize as literal machines without souls. <cite>albertm
yes : if two discrete semiotic symbolic networks point to the same signified value they are the same in the way two different poems with the same meaning are the same. which is to say they are unique but have the same meaning.
borders are simply meant to indicate the demarcation of a process : they are dynamic and permeable : to make them literally concrete is folly of the highest order.
LLM/DEEP-MIND is DESTROYING lineage. This is the crux point we can all feel. Up until now you could pick up a novel or watch a film, download an open source library, and figure out the LINEAGE (even if no attribution is directly made, by studying the author etc.)
I am not too worried though. People are starting to realize this more and more. Soon using AI will be next google glass. LLM is already a slur worse than NPC in the youth. And profs are realizing its time for a return to oral exams ONLY as an assessment method. (we figured this out in industry ages ago : whiteboard interviews etc)
