I know, I use Emacs+Evil. I'm going to give Ki a try and, in case of success, to think about writing Ki binding for Emacs.

In my classification of editors:

1. Orthodox. Mostly focused on looks and integrations.

2. Modal, Vim improvement. Focus on keeping basic Vim keybindings with minor improvements.

3. Modal, rethinking Vim approach.

Ki falls into the third category which I constantly monitor.

I don't see that everything except Canada, Alaska, Greenland, Siberia and Antarctica was inhabitable. For instance in Eocene the climate remained fairly warm and homogeneous (the most uniform in the Cenozoic).

To be honest, looking at Paleogene climate reconstruction I believe it was the best time in earth history. The way things go shows us that all attempts to resist burning fossils are quite futile. It takes some kind of catastrophe to change people habits. The level of coordination required to achive the goal of lowering emissions looks unachievable to humanity. We have enough time to adapt, adaptation is more reasonable and pragmatic approach.

The fact that this always surpises americans doesn't stop to amaze me. American politcs to some extent affects literally everybody on the planet. But only 300M of them are allowed to vote directly. I consider this situation unjust :)

The answer to the "Ctrl question" is quite obvious - just take a look at the space cadet keyboard. Just swap Ctrl and Alt so thumbs could be used for a busy Ctrl.

This also dramatically improve the experience in other "Ctrl heavy" applications.

Something like 30 years ago I came across a magazine in which there was a calendar with set of events for each day so that you can have a pretext to drink everyday. After a while the idea of a similar service came to mind - a program which would figure the nearest "round" number of seconds, minutes, days in hex, oct, bin etc. So it is more than 20 years already and I'm still thinking it would be great to implement it finally.

The remainder of my day was spent alone in my home office with the door open. My CO2 levels at home varied between 750 and 800 ppm.

This made me think about my device accuracy. With open door it is usually well below 400ppm (which seems to be an artificial lower limit of the device).

Finally, I think my device is ok - with door and window closed it gets to 800ppm in about 2-3 hours which seems quite reasonable.

According to [1] in 2019 61% of the world electricity is produced burning coal and oil. I don't see a reason why this proportion would change to fullfill EV caused demand increase. I'm afraid that even worse - sweeping demand increase will be fullfilled the easiest way - burning oil and gas. Hydro and nuclear are slow to build. Solar... I don't know what is wrong with it but taking into account that it is a lot cheaper to extract (comparing to oil and gas) it is still just 3%.

I would love to use EV - it is simpler, more torque etc. But where do we get all this additional electricity from, mostly burning carbon?
