WSL doesn't have a virtualization layer, WSL1 did have but it wasn't a feasible approach so WSL2 is basically running VMs with the Hyper-V hypervisor.

If you disable telemetry in the windows setting it also disables telemetry for PowerToys [0], I agree it's not ideal it's not hard.

How does this compare to PowerToys Run[0] which is what I use instead of the current awful start menu and search in windows.

PowerToys Run has search built in and can search pretty much everything in windows including files, folders, windows, the registry, settings and more.

That's because you are in the other 1% of users, they're not saying 300 searches is the average, median or mean across all users.

Yes, it works well but there is a limit of 16k words. See this reddit comment thread [0] for more details, but if your documents are anywhere near that big then I'd say Postgres is definitely not the right tool for you.

I often see complicated search solutions implemented when PostgreSQL is just sitting there with its incredible FTS powers being ignored. To help some of the teams I'm working with get an idea of the power available to them I wrote up this two part article with a github repo for spinning up a db to follow along.

Agreed, EdgeDB[0] looks to be trying to solve a lot of SQL's perceived flaws with EdgeQL[1]. It's not the first attempt and I suspect it won't be the last but composability is explicitly one of the challenges it addresses.

For the diagrams as code solution, happily it looks like mermaid will soon support C4 [1] so their should be native support in lots of places soon (github, gitlab and lots more have built in support for mermaid)

Is anyone providing unofficial builds of Fuchsia? I can see from the article the requirement is to build it yourself but I'm lazy/time poor and I'd really like to try runnning Fuchsia in an emulator.

I know, it's always free to install but to unlock the addon features (e.g. keyboard shortcuts) requires a subscription.

This is a great tool and I'd happily pay for the addon features but a subscription pricing model really doesn't work for me. If the developer's reading please have a buy option so I can give you some money :)

In case you didn't know Office365 family only works with GoDaddy domains, they used to support other registrars but have dropped that support which is why I'm looking for an alternative.

It took me a week to go from requesting access to receiving access for my domain when I signed up earlier this month. I was already using cloudflare for my dns so maybe that sped things up?

I agree it's a valid question and it seems my suspicion is not the main reason. Based on the other replies to the parent it seems that choosing Gecko requires more work.

I suspect the answer is because of compatibility. Chromium has become the industry standard, everyone tests only on Chrome (and Safari for mobile) so you can expect fewer issues if you're based on chromium.

Is anyone successfully using Thunderbird with Office 365 + Google for calendars and mail? I've found various plugins but never got both working consistently for both services. Imap, caldav, etc. are a breeze but unfortunately work requirements mean I need to use the two big non-standards.
