A whole new generation is coming who learns how to communicate by llm-generated text, so I assume by time these used "catching" methods will be invalidated.

Reading the US 8-12 year olds' stats made me flinch, because as someone grow up in the middle east this is inconceivable. I guess I'll dive into rabbit hole about modern-day stats of Europe and other places to compare.

Because you requested it? There is no agreement on what or how to serve things, other than standards (your browser expects a valid document on the other side etc).

I just assumed court might say there is a difference between you requesting all guess-able endpoints and find 1 endpoint which will harm your computer (while there was _zero_ reason for you to access that page) and someone putting zipbomb into index.html to intentionally harm everyone.

I re-encoded all of my webm's to mp4's back then on my "gif blog", thanks to Safari and all my mac-using friends saying "I can't see it". Now look who started to support it eh.

Even though I despise containers, this is not a good take for open source. They developed an app, they got to decide how it is distributed.

Hell, even if you're paying customer, if a product has only Docker as installation method and seller is not interested for providing .deb's and .rpm's, go find another solution.

Yeah I also searched for a quick select in ghostty while checking now. I am probably too deep in wezterm with my lua configuration anyway, but still.

I think people are not afraid of the current change on licensing, but the magic is broken as soon as a company starts wandering around. Yes the current license is not that bad, but while we have valkey on the side now, how can I trust "Redis Inc." will not decide another small change which does not affect me, then the next one, until it makes something which does affect me.

We also do not let people into the friend circle just because they have money (I hope). IMHO healthiest "social media" I could think is interest groups. They eventually need some kind of donation from one or more people, but with no or minimal barriers.

Warm Handoffs 2 years ago

Honestly I am not convinced. If someone comes to sysadmins channel to ask "hey I randomly get a bluescreen, what should I do?" the solution is to answer "well you can ask #officeit channel". Holding their hand and asking to office IT myself + explaining this to the person who asked the question does not add any extra value, not to mention the extra time it needs.
