Headless e-commerce has been growing lately. See the MACH Alliance [1] to find out about closed-source platforms in this space. One thing to note is that we can see more and more specialization, new categories, such as headless loyalty/PIM/search etc., appeared on the market. Earlier this year, I wrote a short article [2] explaining what problems these APIs try to solve (sorry for the clickbait title).

Yes and no. Our product is an API platform for managing vouchers/coupons. Shopify has this functionality. It's probably not that complex as ours but it's enough for basic needs. Yet the idea is interesting. I can think of an integration with Mailchimp.

Well, although it seems doable in a reasonable time, there’re a few things you need to take care of from dev perspective e.g. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22333237/generating-uniqu...

But from what we've gathered so far the most time-consuming thing for software developers (especially in e-commerce industry) is the maintenance phase. Meaning - the time when voucher campaigns are “in production”. Marketing team wants to stop the campaign as asap as possible, customer service team has to handle another customer coupon complaint, management wants to know the ROI of campaigns and so on. This is what our platform help solving too.
