I’m a fan of code aided design and really appreciate the effort and creativity in what you have done here. without an extensive background in geometry, I sometimes wonder how one could find neat concepts like the Lissajous curves that have a near direct applicability to graphic design ?

The three basic butters would be "doux" (unsalted), "demi-sel" and "salé" although the latter does seem to be harder to find in your run-of-the-mill markets and epiceries outside of Brittany.
Very fun to see this here ! I've been to Bordier's shop in St Malo, they do make lovely butter. If you know a bit about France and Brittany, you'll know that "les bretons" are very much fond of their butter. Check out how they make the famous kouign amann and if you get a chance, do have a taste if the quantities of sugar and butter don't put you off ;-)

Rather, you should try to find some YouTube videos that show you how to produce the general style of art you are specifically trying to create. You might find some more advanced tips and tricks other than the quite narrow drag and click techniques this tool will help you with.

Looks interesting ! I'm currently building a webapp on Supabase and have been considering Retool for admin purposes. What would this offer over something like Retool ? Do you offer specific features tailored to Supabase in order to make the integration easier or do you simply treat it as an ordinary PostgreSQL DB ?
You scenario is conceptually close to the Liar cycles explained in paragraph 1.3 of the article. But what makes the crux of the paradox is the referential « pointing » between each statement which is a feature lacking in your example.

Interesting, after a quick search it seems you are right. Facebook tried to extend data sharing in Europe in 2017 and got fined on the grounds that it was contrary to the E.U. merger rules [0]. So they seem to have learned their lesson, for now at least.

Considering new generations only bring ever smaller real world gains in performance and features, I tend to wait until my phone either died completely or requires a repair that would cost only a little less than buying a new phone.
I agree. It seem to me that the article is taking the Mickey out of these high profile people / companies who are quick to place blame on Excel. I would see most of these a simply human errors which could have been avoided had the people involved been more thorough. If they are able to model complexes financial and economic problems in a spreadsheet surely they are also capable of building safeguards and double checks into their sheets or have someone proof read the results. Evidently, they didn't ... Though luck.
Financial analyst here (and front end dev geek / enthusiast). It’s been interesting to see a number of recent HN articles related to Excel. I work for a Global 500 manufacturing company and can assure that Excel supports a large number of business processes and decisions.
Raw data is often stored in proprietary OLAP data stores which are provide a single version of the “truth”. The financial data is retrieved through the vendor’s Excel add-ins. Analysts can then use Excel’s basic functionality to transform and enrich the data and finally output it in a format suitable to be presented to decision makers.
Having a decent knowledge of web technologies, I’m often frustrated not to have a shiny web app that will automagically show the data in stunning tables and graphs (e.g. d3.js bliss). For me, the main reason we don’t see proper “developer made” applications in large corporations is that they do not allow for quick and fast iteration and adaptations. Here is a very typical situation in my job : A manager bursts into my office to ask the following : “Hey, I know we usually compare our XYZ monthly performance to our prior year performance and to our last forecast. Could you compare add in a comparison between the year end run rate and forecast ? Oh, and could you also a express XYZ as a percentage of ABC, it could be insightful. Thanks ! ... don’t work too late.”
After a couple of Excel ninja moves : job done, manager happy, business decisions made. If the data is wrong, I'm responsible, not the mistyped Excel formulae.
