The one non-compete clause that I signed was very permissive. There was a short list of companies I could not sign with for a year. I felt it was pretty fair to be honest. Otherwise, I do not sign them.

My daughter went from 18 months through 8th grade and my wife runs the school so, as you may guess, we are big fans. One thing to look for is the certifications. In the US there are (at least) two main Montessori Certification groups, AMI & AMS. The school my wife runs is AMI but I think AMS would be just as good.

What is slightly different than other experiences here is that the school is a Charter school which poses some challenges but does offer Montessori beyond the normal tuition based model.

As for my daughter, her transition has been fairly smooth. The high school she goes to has more than 10x the students as her old school so is much larger. On the other hand, her grades are good, and she is involved in a number of clubs too.

Montessori is not for everyone but I definitely recommend checking it out.

Symantec was obligated to pay him a royalty on every box with his picture on it. When I joined Symantec in 1995 they were cursing this royalty and trying to eliminate his picture. Products did not sell as well without it so they kept it until they found it was no longer needed to sell their stuff

I once worked in a place where we spent $100,000+ to add a feature that only two customers used. They paid around $8,000 for the feature. It was deemed a success. Features serve Hope while quantifying the value to customers rains on people's parades

When I worked at Symantec in the Peter Norton Group in Santa Monica in 1995 I was told they really wanted to get his picture off of the box as the royalties were too high (reportedly $1 per box but I never did confirm that). They had started the process of minimizing its use so that they could wean the customer off of seeing the image. Still customers loved seeing the picture so there was a constant tension

I have no personal knowledge of this case but having helped companies with their Accessibility deficits in the past I have seen resistance from Marketing who believes that their color scheme is the sole reason anyone uses the site-- despite not having strong enough contrast in colors. And some executives just do not like being told they have to do something
