I was curious about your point that we only have ~20 years supply. The article you linked doesn’t really defend that estimate, I think it’s actually pointing out that’s the absolute floor of our supply.

It mentions estimates of undiscovered uranium and also multiple pathways to extend that estimate if there was demand to improve the technology or increase our supply. It sounds like realistically we could find the material for powering all of our energy using fission if we had the demand to do so.

Work on revenue-generating projects/products. When push comes to shove, cost centers are cut first. If you work on search ads at Google, you have a lot of job security. I wouldn’t want to work on customer support tools there…

This almost happened before when Trump issued an executive order for Bytedance to divest TikTok. Most of the media outlets reported that Bytedance was actively courting U.S. corporations to buy Tiktok. I'm sure there was a lot more going on behind the scenes but I don't think the automatic reaction would be to shutter TikTok.

I think we’re going to discover that the people operating these sophisticated instruments aren’t properly trained on how to handle anomalies in their data. One of them was simply an out of focus nightvision system with a triangle focal ring. The tic tac video is most likely a large sea bird and the fighter pilots didn’t properly understand how parallax at high zooms looked. This YouTube video is pretty snarky but it’s a decent overview of it. https://youtu.be/VCH7BWGpl5s

There’s lot of good solutions out there but if you really like using Postgres, you could move your logs to a secondary Postgres DB or Postgres server so it doesn’t affect your application DB’s performance. I’ve scaled this to 10s of millions of log messages without much issue.

Please do. It would be great to hear how a company took a pragmatic approach that worked well enough for them. The mindshare right now seems like people are pushing for using combination of five different technologies to do simple aggregation queries. Sometimes knowing a single tool really well is all you need...

Depends on what you are worrying about. Is it your product's future? Competitors? Keeping customers? Managing employees' performance? In my experience, stress comes from having all of these problems but not having any plan. I would write out everything that is stressing you out then try to find the highest priority. That feeling of having too much to do is a GOOD thing. It means you have tons of ideas or your customers love your product and want to improve it. That should never go away if you do your job correctly. You just need to develop strategies to know when your roadmap is full and how to manage scope/expectations. Maybe you need a Product Manager or Salesperson to handle expectations from your customers?

Irish and Italian people were previously considered separate races but have merged into the "white" race. Have the genetics of Ireland changed drastically in the past 100 years? Or was it the social construct of "race" that changed? Why do some countries consider certain groups a different race and other countries view them as a socioeconomic class e.g. gypsies? Humans migrate and interbreed with different genetic groups and have been doing so for a long, long time. We are really a spectrum of genetic differences and not really a bunch of grouped individuals.
