Contentful was born several years ago (back then as StorageRoom) through Show HN:

Five years, a name change and a complete rewrite later Contentful (https://www.contentful.com) has raised a Series B (total funding close to $20m), got ~100 employees and customers ranging from Jack in the Box, over Nike to Urban Outfitters.

It's been a wild ride, and it doesn't look like it's going to be over anytime soon :)

For experienced engineers it would be around 40-70k Euro. Depending how experienced you really are, how the demand for the language is (e.g. higher for iOS), on the stage of the company and how much equity you get.

You need to factor in the cost of living when comparing this to US or UK salaries. For 600 Euro/month you will get a nice multi-room apartment in a central area without sharing it with anybody else. Lunch in a restaurant is about 5 Euro and food in supermarkets probably the highest quality for the cheapest price anywhere.

This is not at all about taking notes? It is about managing todos and events on paper?

Does anybody have a good system for taking notes during a meeting on paper? I prefer digital tools, but recently I've been doing many presentations with screen-sharing, where I cannot type at my computer.

As I'm getting more into sales I've just read a couple of books about the topic.

SPIN Selling is one of them but as an engineer I liked Solution Selling by Michael Bosworth even more, as it gives you a similar, but even more detailed process to follow.

It’s now time to throw away the prototype of our API and to build a high-performance solution, from scratch. We already have a team for the backend and are now looking for an iOS developer who will create an iOS SDK and example applications.

We’re looking for someone who already has a solid experience in writing and testing iOS applications and that has a good knowledge of the iOS ecosystem and its frameworks (CoreData etc.). You should have a good Computer Science foundation and an authentic interest in working with Objective-C and Cocoa. One of the main jobs besides developing will be to involve the iOS community with talks at conferences and interesting prototypes.

It’s now time to throw away the prototype of our API and to build a high-performance solution, from scratch. We want to bring aboard a person who will develop the new JavaScript frontend, public JS SDK and JavaScript server component with us (yes, we’re developers too!).

Related question... what do you do when the execution of your script just aborts without an error?

This happens sometimes to me, especially when I bundle all my JS resources together into one file. JSLint doesn't help, as some 3rd party libraries don't pass JSLint tests.

What I end up doing is adding console.log/alert statements all the way through the scripts to narrow down where the script aborts. There must be a better way?!?

I almost completely agree, but a problem I often encounter in REST API design is: how to do searches?

Let's say we have an "Event" Resource and it belongs to a "Location" Resource and the Event belongs to "Category" Resources. If you want to provide an endpoint to search events with a GET requests and filter based on Location and Categories (which are identified by URLs) you can end up with really long query strings.

/events?location=URL1&categories[]=URL2&categories[]=URL3&categories[]=URL4&...

This is not only ugly, it can bring up problems on both clients and servers.

Any suggestions on how to handle this?

Many developers are already using our StorageRoom CMS (http://storageroomapp.com) for this.

An administrator configures content types, editors manage the content and developers fetch the content through the RESTful JSON API (including CORS & JSONP support).

How is it different to Parse/StackMob/Kinvey? It is more about delivering editorial content to mobile or web apps and not about a read/write backend.

What about abuse?

Wouldn't this invite loan sharks lending money to relatively poor unemployed people in other countries, selling them the American dream and make them work on slavery-like terms for decades until they pay of their debt?

Don't believe the crash reports in iTunes connect, they lie, your app does crash... a lot, so add a crash reporter.

The best I found so far is the self-hosted QuincyKit (http://quincykit.net/) or if you don't want to fiddle with your own server, use HockeyApp (http://www.hockeyapp.net/).

Parse, Kinvey and StackMob are great tools if you want to read/write data such as high scores from your app. But you won't have a nice editing interface for the data in the web.

If Parse is "Heroku for Mobile" then StorageRoom, the startup I am working for, is "iCloud for content".

Editors manage content in our flexible service online and data is synchronized or pulled from mobile apps.

Different use-case, but we seem to have found another problem where many devs complain. Existing CMS tools suck at this.

The ladder in the house reminds me of Super Mario. Great concept, but I would go insane living in such a 2D world over time.

Interesting idea. Instead of a Word document you might want to consider writing the book in plain text, HTML or LaTeX. This will make it a lot easier to merge in changes from other contributors.

Where is the Peepcode Screencast or something similar for this that teaches me the basics in about an hour?
