Journey on how we made the merchant experience better — Part 1: Engineering Process

Razorpay - https://razorpay.com | Senior Frontend Engineer | Full time | Bangalore, India | ONSITE (Remote during COVID-19 till March 2021)

Why do we keep going back to netflix, airbnb, uber or whatsapp? What is so good about these platforms that as a user we crave for it. In one word, it's the experience.

At Razorpay, in Payments team we are responsible for creating world class experiences for our Merchants.

In a winner takes all market, Experience is the differentiator to prevent customers from leaving your platform. Razorpay operates in a B2B setup and merchants are our primary customers. They are our bread and butter. The Payments Dashboard team owns the experience touchpoints with the Merchants.

Consider yourself as a good fit if you question things before starting on them, see things holistically, empathize with the merchants and want to help us craft the differentiating merchant experience. Some of the challenges that we are solving for our Merchants are :-

Self serve capabilities: Every merchant ticket is an input to evaluate how we could prevent it in the first place. Think; when was the last time you had reached out to amazon support? Tickets are not scalable. Ideas???

Availability: Downtime for us means unhappy Merchants, slurry of social media escalations and substantial brand damage. How do we ensure five 9’s availability?

Performance: Its a large codebase and there's a cost to the javascript shipped. We want to work within our budgets and take performance budgeting very seriously.

Continual Optimisations: We proactively identify ideas like design systems, monorepo's, FT framework, followed by detailed tech speccing( an example) and then carefully including these in our day to day operations.

BFF: The current dashboard BE has lived its course and is scheduled to die in the near future. We will be moving to a swanky new GraphQL layer and you will be a part of this journey.

Come join us as we use the latest capabilities of react.js like context, hooks etc, jest, react-query, graphql, storybook /service workers for contract driven development and help us navigate the next leg of this journey.

Please reply on the same thread or drop a mail to 6swb7vkxvd@privaterelay.appleid.com or DM me on http://linkedin.com/in/sandeshdamkondwar with your impressive profile link, I'll reach out to you personally.

What will happen to people who are already opted out of ads based on data from facebook business partners.

2K notes are not just piece of paper, it does have NGC (Nano GPS Chip) by which income tax department can track the location and exact amount have stashed nearby that location. So sending that amount to some other country or keeping that money underground will be the most foolish thing one can do.

Keeping good contacts with old coworkers seems to work, my friends believes in me and my capabilities, so they referred me in their existing company many times(even though I was not looking for change).

Burying the URL 12 years ago

I loved it in the start, but in development it's kind of frustration for me. Specially while doing API design you'll get frustrated easily.
