This is the way I build cybersecurity opertions centers and ingest data for mining.

Every log structure is analyzed by hand. Every log structure data behaviour is verified with statistics by hand. Every log data is normalized by hand. Every parser is done by hand. Every log is documented and gets unit tests.

What has not gone through this process ends up in the "automatic extraction" bucket waiting to get human love.

April's fool or not, you may laugh at me. My L3 security analysts don't.

Yes, I extracted it from that post.

I wanted to save the reference. The context might be sometimes added by our peers like pc86.

I build SOCs where Splunk can be the SIEM and it is being very nice to work with.

It integrates an editor where you can convert query results to such visualizations. You could also integrate your custom viz made with JS libs (D3).

Entreprise Security is a Splunk paid app that provides a nice environment for SOC analysts.

Yes,you should give it a try, maybe through a docker image that will get you going quickly.

The NASA Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) has provided digital elevation data (DEMs) for over 80% of the globe. This data is currently distributed free of charge by USGS and is available for download from the National Map Seamless Data Distribution System, or the USGS ftp site. The SRTM data is available as 3 arc second (approx. 90m resolution) DEMs.

If you are choosing the django stack, I would advise staying within the built-in template system.

Jinja2 is a great project and I wish it was easy to integrate with django.

I tried it through coffin http://github.com/dcramer/coffin and got hit by a few views from the contrib.auth models that had to be rewritten.

If you want to plug django-apps, you will have to patch and maintain them to work with Jinja2.

Coffin uses a nice trick to reload the view functions code with a Jinja2 version of render_to_response and RequestContext:

http://github.com/dcramer/coffin/blob/master/coffin/contrib/...

Note that django 1.2 will include 'Smart' if tags and Template caching if that is what you are looking for in Jinja2:

This is an interesting business idea for people living outside the USA.

A partnership with already established websites where you use their code base and take care of the translation, marketing and customer relationships in your geographical/cultural region.

Well, this topic is about Africa, that is why my comments may seem afro-centric (maybe I also miss my life as a kid in Bondoukou).

The trait I admire most about humans is their ability to adapt to any situation.

And yes, I also admire the expression of that trait in Africa.

And because of this ability to adapt to any situation, the idea I wanted to share is :

Let them do and help only if they are asking for.

You missed my point. Those sentences were to introduce the fact that they don't need help they're not asking for.

Why do you feel the need to take them as offending?

Those are things i admire in Africa, like the fact that you are considered as a human being rather than a consumer. Yes, because of the lack of wealth as we know it in occidental countries, but wealth can take many forms.

Of course, they are completely different. Some of the guilt of colonialism has been transformed into aid.

I was referring to the influence both have on not considering Africans as people who can handle themselves. It will take time, trial and error, but those can't be avoided.
