The weather is vastly different and very cold, but I enjoy and missed the winter, and spring is almost here as well. The people are not as open to talk to strangers, but I've noticed that once they do open up, they are fun, honest people. I believe education is free over here, I haven't looked into it from an immigrant's perspective. I don't speak Estonian, as I currently don't need to... There are a bunch of tech companies who's primary language is English, so the incentive is still low, but if we do decide to stay long-term, I plan on learning it.
Estonia has quickly grown to be a very technological advanced country. I had several interviews within a week when I started applying, and I don't regret my decision. Who knows, it may change in a few years, but even if it does, I can always get up and move again.

Author of hnhistory.net here. Thanks for mentioning it. I didn't get any feedback back then. This will give me some motivation to work on it again. Mine actually scrapes hn... This was done before the api came out.

verifying your email should fix the issue
Once you click on "Start Tutorial", looks like it does an animation thing, but then just takes you back to the screen to where you can click "Start Tutorial" again... I just realized that this keeps on going in a circle until you verify your email... So if you think it's not working for because it is buggy, make sure you check your email and verify your account :)

No these are simply a reflection of the top 30 links of HN captured every hour. It's pulling them from HN's rss feed.
The point here is to find something that was at the top a number of days ago.
I sometimes also find that I like a bunch of the posts on HN that I want to read at a later time, and then I don't refresh HN for a while, because I'm scared to lose those links. With HN History I don't have to :)

Maybe if a user writes 5-10 summaries in a month, and his summary gets picked, he/she get's access for free the next month. Can't wait to see what you do now :D
Here's an Idea: See how many people show interest in paying for it, and how many do not want to pay for it. If it's worth it, let the people not wanting to pay for it summarize it for "free" access to your service, now you don't have to write the summaries, you just approve others' summaries.
Just an idea, also sounds like a fun project :)
Are all these summaries going to be hand-written? Who will be writing them, how many people would you have on backup in case you can't write the summaries for that day? -- Since, you know, people would be paying for the service.
With the Hacker Newsletter, if I don't get it sometimes, I don't really care, since it's free. However, if I were paying for a service I might feel different about it.
I wouldn't mind trying it, but I don't think I'd pay for it. But, who knows, others might! Good luck to you.

edit: "free" in the sense that I do not pay anything. However, there usually is a sponsored ad (obviously geared towards the HN community) with the weekly email.
That was my intention: Learning the practical side of PHP and MySQL, without having to deal with too much design and markup. At the same time I didn't want my project to like a POS, which is the main reason I used Bootstrap.

How is bootstrap holding back when it comes to PHP an MySQL? JS, sure, I can understand, since most of it is just using their API, but how is it holding me back when it comes to PHP and MySQL?
It's killing your eyes because it's too damn ugly or because it's too bright? The stories are all from actual users. Family, friends, friends of friends, etc.
I made this to get into php and mysql. Constructive Criticism, and suggestions are welcome and appreciated :).
Even if someone put every single story they write on HN, that's not a guarantee that it will get comments, since it might not get up-voted.
I think if I were to implement this on my own page, I would probably have two tabs that expand if clicked. Something like this:
Show [your site's name] comments | Show HN comments
And then for the HN comment tab, you would use the OP's awesome submission. Thanks, btw!
Another great "hack", that I remember from some movie, is to write yourself a big check and hang it up somewhere, where you will see it everyday. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a boost, to "keep at it". Also, like others have mentioned, I would start with something more realistic and achievable at first, and once reached, you can set new and higher goals.
