Knobs on wheel, especially for the controls on this, are normal in performance vehicles.

From my understanding, if you want to use native Claude in AWS Bedrock, it runs from an AWS datacenter. I'm guessing that's why regardless of running your own stack... they still need a footprint in all the major clouds.

Sorry - significantly better was overreaction from my part. My view of Myrtle beach is somewhat muddied by the reason I was there in the first place. Was in GA for a wedding, was going to go to FL, but couldn't due to a hurricane and ended up quickly shuffling to Myrtle Beach. Felt like a memory of a town. Gatlinburg is maybe the ultimate tourist trap. Was hilariously enough also around there for a wedding.

I can't really argue for either as destinations. Both of these places I don't think I would go over other available options.

Here are a few things off the top:

- horrible optimization

    - video calls will easily bloat 1-3gb of ram

    - e.g. sometimes you click to write... you get a spinner, wait 10 seconds

- yeah, all things in one interface

These are opinions. People can have different. To me, its just a slow and difficult to navigate mess that doesn't know what it wants to be.

Clickup is kinda like this (trash software btw) where it combines all these things. Its super cumbersome to deal with all of them in the same UI. For example, you will be chatting with someone, need to look at ticket, you have to completely leave the context of the chat to find the ticket. Yeah you can have multiple tabs, but still cumbersome. Would rather have a chat app for chat, documentation in documentation... so on.

I’m shipping in hours what used to take days. Not prototypes. Real, structured, well-architected software.

If I don’t understand what it’s doing, it doesn’t ship. That’s non-negotiable.

I would assume it's because they've already won the younger market via near total dominance in the k-12 education sector, so no reason to advertise to that crowd.

I don't know how large of a concern this is, but Amazons wide growth allows using revenue from their higher profit sectors (such as aws) to force out competitors in other lower margin sectors they are involved with such as grocery stores. This also may very well be a strategy other large conglomerates utilize.

To me this doesn't really make much sense to me as its own product, but it seems ripe for an acquisition play. This would make an excellent addition to say the Office 365 or Dropbox suite of tools.

I have a similar theory about motorcycles. It's not batteries included, and some people ride like absolute madmen increasing the fatality rate.

One other important thing when walking in snow/ice is that even the smallest slip can potentially strain/pull a muscle just due to the rapid movement.

At the core I think a service like this is a good idea, but the amount of political rhetoric in the landing page would make me not want to use this service. Would prefer the service be completely agnostic to the underlying users and not favor a political party or ideology.

That being said, I think this is more a reaction to a business need/market opportunity that exists rather than a true attempt at a platform that is free for all to use.

I wonder how long until Discord starts blocking things like Matrix or IRC Bridges. That or the Bot API may already be useful enough to say something "works", but is so functionally useless that you have no reason to use it. (e.g. you can bridge to a channel, but not bridge instant messages)

That’s somewhat the solution irccloud provides, however they need a mobile app. I think the biggest issue with irc is the backlog. It’s somewhat nice to be able to easily search a companies chat history and find some context. The solution to that is correct documentation, however that problem is much harder.

Feedbin is $50/yr, but well worth it. Light memory footprint and vim keybinds.

Something like this would be great. Linux running on an iPad pro would be a dream mobile setup.

Albeit a now invisible knob that must be searched for via a door scan. While I don’t personally switch my ssh port from default, I would imagine doing so would cut down on a ton of the noise from lowest common denominator ssh attempts.

In any web browser window 'Ctrl +' zooms the page in. Can be helpful with situations like this where it is a classic site.

Not making any arguments about the author, but there is a bit more work to a static site than just apt install nginx. You need to make sure your firewall is setup correctly, users are added and keys managed, ssh config has correct settings, services start automatically, certificates. Either need to deal with certs on your own or get a cdn. Either way, more work than apt install
