At its heart, this was borne out of a desire to fashion technology to help integrate us, enabling a tiny bit more proximity and place amongst our fellows, rather than "uproot" it (as we can all too easily disintegrate, and treat ourselves as purely online beings in incorporeal cyberspace).

I've come to think that in the future, the bottlenecks in the development lifecycle will mostly be related to the decisions of Product. In other words, if nearly everything is cloneable by Claude, CRUD is no longer a moat.
So: in the "efficient cloning market" hypothesis, everything able to be eaten by mimesis, who pushes the limits of "craft and beauty"?
Therefore, I've been wanting to grow in my sense of taste: having a palate for beautiful things and letting more of my life be characterized by their presence.
To that end, I built Flâneur; it's a simple site / newsletter that delivers a handful of beautiful things from museum archives across the world. It's very simple, but I found it to be a delight to work on and use.

This is awesome! I had a similar thought with my own site I got started on at the beginning of Covid: Storylocks [https://storylocks.com]. It has nowhere near the level of intricacy that your site has it seems, but really cool to see other folks experiment in a similar way!

The big investment in your career will be ideas that stand the test of time.
This is spot on in my experience.
As I grow in my career as a software engineer, it's funny how much more often I notice that the things that set one apart in the field is a level-headed understanding of the fundamentals and a calm resolve to take into consideration what's worked in the past, much more than one's ability to "chase the shiny".
Honorable mention of the Lindy Effect [1] here - one of my favorite ideas from Antifragile [2].

I suppose another such solution, for a patient with a given medical condition X, is to have a very large pool of doctors and see if any of them have condition X (with similar age, background, etc).
Then one could compare how treatment varies when doctors treat themselves with the same issue.

As to your reflections, I'm wondering how Stripe ingests these various emerging patterns around the world (especially as you expand to unfamiliar territory) and prioritize bringing them into your products?
IOW: if N trends at various stages of the adoption cycle are happening 7K miles away, how do you think about placing different bets on each, especially when the cultural moments may be wildly different than, as yet, Stripe understands?

As an aside, it always jars me when a site hijacks default browser scrolling functionality. In my experience, making it as fast as possible is a _far_ better use of dev resources than figuring out how to make scrolling unique (no matter what the marketing department says).
I wrote what beginning writers were supposed to write then, and probably still are: short stories.
This is a bit tangential, but if anyone is finding themselves in a similar spot and looking to sharpen their short story writing, I built a site called Storylocks [1] - it's a collaborative fiction app for aspiring authors to write serialized fiction just for fun.
