Have you taken a look at http://www.discogs.com/developers/ ?
It would be good to add sources in this wiki!
We're their product. Advertising is the customer.
You can do this with chrome by adding a search engine (and making it default):

In addition to e-mailing for Submit Puppy, have you considered adding a Drag-and-Drop or a Browse/Upload? (You could even add a captcha!)
My understanding is that the wireless router broadcasts a packet and that packet contains the SSID and MAC address.
It'd be nice for Firefox to adopt a LTS version. That way security updates can be guaranteed and IT guys can work on making sure LTS versions work.
Perhaps, but it doesn't mean users are incapable at identifying phishing pages. With an address bar both the user AND Chrome can help identify phishing attacks.
I think there is a bigger concern of phishing attacks... Without an address bar its harder to confirm that you are actually visiting X.com
Theres a typo for the link: The API is ready for you at http://www.newbslur.com/api.
It would also be interesting to see it run against Gnome 3 shell (it's 'intended' predecessor)
"Though Zipcar didn’t really incorporate reducing carbon emissions into its core idea, Chase says it’s a by-product that can’t be taken away."
I think it is crucial that startups realize that they cannot predict all the vectors their product will impact. However, that being said it is important that they recognize the markets that they have impacted and capitalize on it. Congrats Chase (and Zipcar)!
Because they can get away with it... If there was better competition, (in an ideal world) the quality of the product would get better.
I always enjoy these types of posts! I think its very beneficial for those who are preparing for their own launch (or to just improve in general).
Advertisements are also not the only way to monetize (and add value to) your product.
(full disclosure: haven't pitched to investors/YC)
Just talking about your product with colleagues, mentors, friends, etc. can help you get prepared. Most likely they will ask you questions and it can be like a mock "interview".
Theres another HN article with a more complete list, http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2356941
moki.tv - It takes the best of all worlds (Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, Hulu, etc.) with respect to online video and spins it with IMDB and Facebook.
The "simplifications" in the program that can be achieved by a supercompiler
Redundant code elimination. Performing operations on data that are known at the time of supercompilation. Removing intermediate data structures. Transforming multi-pass algorithms to one-pass algorithms.
