I'm still iterating on my little mobile app :)

It's an app that allows you to schedule a wake-up call and get a real call from a friendly person, somewhere in the world. No phone numbers exchanged. All calls happen through VoIP in the app.

Random aside: I distinctly remember getting on a phone call with people from the SEC (US Gov't) with the goal of understanding if I could legally start a prediction market. This was during 2020 or 2021. I recall them saying basically "no way" and that it wouldn't be legal, and would be rife with abuse.

Fun times.

Yes, and has continued to spin over millions of years as various atrocities have occurred. The question for everyone: what are you going to do about it?

It doesn't matter what I think. The reality is most people who voted, voted for this or something like this. This will only change at the ballot box, assuming you believe in fair elections.

Some people: "Great, this will help them get criminals and other bad people off the street."

Some other people: "More fascism. This is Trump's version of the SS. It's absolutely horrible and we are doomed if this continues."

It's true that lots of people don't seem to recognize objective truth, or just don't want to admit it. Perception is reality.

How might we influence those powers to do something about this? I can't imagine anyone in opposition except for those who make a living off of squatting.

This is true for one of mine. Bought it for $12.99 a couple of years ago and now GoDaddy is squatting on it, wanting about $5k

I see strays from time to time and I do often wonder if they belong to someone. Is the idea that I'd be able to report the stray on the app and hope that the owner has the app too and sees my report?

I'm not sure this distinction matters much to most people, though. People hear "defund the police" and draw their own conclusions as to what that means, and it's not a far leap to go from "defund the police" to "welp, guess they want to tie the hands of cops and take away all of their funding so they can't do their jobs"
