I think it’s always nice to learn about different paradigms of languages.

Since you know python, I’d recommend these two 1. Go (compiled, typed, simple, fast) 2. Elixir (functional, interpreted, distributed, elegant)

Tbh I don’t see it as a huge problem as long as a. The data is anonymous, and b. they aren’t trying to sell the data.

I hear you. It’s just that the rise of TikTok contradicts all the survey results. I.e. I don’t see their sentiments reflect in their actions.

I mean if you’re concerned about your data and feel helpless, simply don’t use the app. But TikTok keeps rising doesn’t it.

I’m not sure if there’s even a way to easily pay taxes for a foreigner. Nor there are proper visa’s for such kind of travel. I think it’s relatively a very new thing and everyone is just figuring it out.

This is interesting cause it’s exactly the opposite for me. I’ve pixel 6a right next to me but my sim is still on my iPhone cause I just can’t find the apps I want on the android :)

iPhone 7 with its 3D Touch had the best cursor scroll tbh. You hard press your thumb anywhere on the keyboard and use it like a mousepad to scroll around. I’m still mad that we don’t have that anymore.

I’ve personally not tried it but the founder is the creator of pebble watch so that does give me a bit of confidence.

I actually haven’t thought deeply about this topic yet.

I think it’s a tricky to judge whether re-inventing the wheel is important and would yield better results or one should just stick with the norms.

And I genuinely believe that we definitely need to reinvent the wheel when it comes to workplaces. Trying to translate a physical workplace to a digital one seems logical but doesn’t feel right. And more importantly, if you come from that side, it surely makes the transition easier for people, but makes it very hard to re-invent the wheel because your lens (how you look at the problem) is now biased.

But then how do you re-invent the wheel?

I think one way is to just question everything and see if the past conclusions still hold true in this new reality. Once you have enough conclusions, you can maybe begin to think about how to model a solution with those conclusions in mind. Makes sense ?

This sounds really neat. Analoging the reality into a virtual one with higher fidelity. I’m thinking about coming over from the other end (like thinking from first principles). Like what it means to be remote workplace? Why do we hangout at a workplace ? Etc I’m sure you folks would have thought about it a lot. I would love to see your conclusions.

lmao totally agree. I once took a operating system course on a whim. Built primitives for an mips system. Absolutely loved it but wouldn't do it again :)

I'm just really curious so if you're comfortable sharing, can you share why are you looking for work? I mean, if you 30+ years of experience, I assume you're at least 50? And considering the fact that you've generated this lifetime value, I don't think you have financial issues either.

My only guess is that you're mostly bored and you love solving problems
