After almost 5 years of lying dormant, I finally pushed an update to my iOS note-taking app — OctoNote!

OctoNote is a simple markdown-based note taking app that saves your notes as GitHub gists. This makes them easy to share, to edit on the web, and to maintain a rich editing history - since every gist is a little git repo. OctoNote basically enables a specific gist workflow - using gists to create & edit markdown files in the context of note-taking. If you're a developer who's already using GitHub (or has ever written a nice README), OctoNote should feel right at home in your workflow.

Just happy to share that I've been able to get this release out the door amid a crazy holiday schedule. Hope some of you might enjoy it!

My best managers were ex-engineers who didn't touch the codebase. They understood how things worked, and could talk architecture & concepts, but they didn't expect to be able to sit down and write code at our level. Maybe they wished they would have the time/opportunity still, but realistically they were focused on leading.

HN is my default 'is the internet working' site and that genuinely threw me for a loop across multiple devices today dealing with hotspots while our power was out.

This headline as it currently stands ("Dark Sky Has a New Home (2020)") is a bit misleading, as the relevant update was posted June 6, 2022 and is announcing the official sunset date for Dark Sky - not just the acquisition.

As long as a 4-day work week doesn't mean 10-hour work days.
