Earlier you were saying how you didn't trust only observational studies and wanted to see people actually doing randomized trials. That was for a meta-analysis, but this neither a meta-analysis nor an RCT. It is a single purely observational study.

Further, looking at their 95% confidence interval graphs... you can see the many of trends could potentially be completely reversed and still within the 95% confidence interval. Their 95% confidence interval contain probable outcomes where 140mg/dL was the worst possible level as well

Further it also still finds increased risk for heart issues with higher LDL.

Any increase in LDL-C levels was associated with an increased risk of myocardial infarction.

This meta analysis talks about the findings of various RCT (Randomized controlled trial) studies in there.

It's not just South America. It's even in places like the UK

Most of the UK and Ireland’s grass-fed cows and sheep are on land that might otherwise be temperate rainforest – arable crops tend to prefer drier conditions. However, even if there were no livestock grazing in the rainforest zone – and these areas were threatened by other crops instead – livestock would still pose an indirect threat due to their huge land footprint

However the levels of suffering is magnified by animal agriculture especially because it takes a large amount of crops for feed

As for fertilizer, the usage is lower without animal agriculture even compared to best case usage of manure

Where are you getting that from? Other data suggests that even worst case production of plant sources of protein come out far ahead of even the best case production of meat, dairy, etc.

plant-based foods emit fewer greenhouse gases than meat and dairy, regardless of how they are produced. […] Plant-based protein sources – tofu, beans, peas and nuts – have the lowest carbon footprint. This is certainly true when you compare average emissions. But it’s still true when you compare the extremes: there’s not much overlap in emissions between the worst producers of plant proteins, and the best producers of meat and dairy.

Are you saying that because cruel things happen in the wild we should be fine doing cruel things? I doubt we would accept someone justifying other acts by showing how it occurs in the wild such as stealing all the way to something extreme like cannibalism.

Many argue that this overlooks the large variation in the footprints of foods across the world. Using global averages might give us a misleading picture for some parts of the world or some producers. If I source my beef or lamb from low-impact producers, could they have a lower footprint than plant-based alternatives? The evidence suggests, no: plant-based foods emit fewer greenhouse gases than meat and dairy, regardless of how they are produced.

You have to read further down to know that it was someone assigned to argue this point of view - not that it was a study or review where someone looked at research and came to that conclusion. Reading the abstract and title did not give me the impression that someone was assigned to make that argument. Those are very different

As long as the methane stays in the atmosphere it does warming. Taking 100+ year to reach equilibrium concentrations still means having massive amounts of methane in the atmosphere doing warming, just at an equilibrium.

Because it breaks faster than CO2 is why we should really reduce the emissions today because it presents us a great opportunity to save more warming effect in the future

Nevertheless, while methane may have a short atmospheric lifetime, its effects are not ephemeral provided the source of the methane continues to exist. For as long as livestock continue to be farmed, methane continues to exert a warming effect upon the climate.

As such the argument that since methane’s impacts are temporary, they do not matter, is wrong. Its effects will in practice be permanent, unless ruminant production is halted.

Methane emissions also increase the risk of us ‘overshooting’ the 1.5°C/2°C target, potentially tipping us into unknown climatic territory, with possibly devastating effects on agriculture, wildlife’s ability to adapt, heat stress in humans and animals, and more
