The thing that defines performance of DRAM is AFAIK the capacitor of the bit cells and not the transistor driving it. And also AFAIK the process to create those capacitors is quite unique to DRAM, so you can't just go and use a "logic" process unchanged and produce DRAMs.

Maybe they mean X11-screens. That are more or less independent screens, you can't move a window from one to the other for example.Emacs supports that somewhat with the "open new frame on display server" menu option, but usually, multiple screens are not very useful.

Interesting. I sometimes get similar behaviour on KDE / wayland, usually it is "2" or "3", and it seems to only affect electron apps. Always thought it has something to do with a dodgy ps/2 to usb converter I use to attach my old mechanical keyboards. I think it does not happen if electron apps are started with "--ozone-platform=wayland" but not completely sure, and I have no reliable way to reproduce or somehow trigger that behaviour.

IIRC there were BMW i3, Nissan Leaf (2010) and later Renault Zoe.

BMW in cooperation with Toyota has/had H2 cars (currently iX5), but it is some sort of pilot phase.

Tesla with their model 3 and supercharger network demonstrated that electric vehicles indeed are viable, and that got the ball rolling.

Nobody is constantly charging their completely empty EV.

A typical commute of 50km/day at 20kWh/100km means you have to put 10kWh into you car (per day). A 230V outlet can deliver 3,7kW at 16A, so your car would be topped up again after about 3h.

Tesla Supercharger prizes at 20kWh/100km are in the same ball park as Diesel at 5l/100km. Charging at home should approach half that, and charging with PV will amount to <2€/100km.

Individual owners may care about brand toxicity or may not, but it affects how much tesla can charge for new vehicles and resale value of used ones. Of course this analysis is just MHO, maybe the real cause why EV market is expanding and Tesla is stagnating is something completely different, like missing "android auto" resp. apple equivalent thing functionality.

Tesla Model 3 is typical middle class sedan size IMHO, like VW Passat, Audi A4, BWM 3, i.e. one size up from VW Golf/Tiguan/Touran.

Tesla was different because it was no gas-guzzling V8 behemoth that takes at least 20l/100km like what you used to associate with "US cars".

Europe is not the US, we have somewhat functional public transport in most parts of the continent, you are not _that_ dependent on a car. Also, EVs will become cheaper than ICEs, with or without subsidies or tax incentives, it's only a matter of time. Battery prices on a cell level approach €40/kWh. A new drive-train incl. battery will be < 2000€.

Also, given that polluted air affects poor people the most, getting rid of all that exhaust of old worn out cars with ICEs will be a good thing in any case.

US made cars had the reputation of being low quality, too big, too heavy and too inefficient for european cities.

Tesla was somewhat different. People bought Teslas not for their promised "self driving" capabilities (I know no Tesla driver that took those promises at face value or got the FSD option FWIW), but one motivation was to "stick it" to snobbish arrogant european manufacturers wanting to develop "clean" ICEs with "green fuels" or other non-sensical crimes against thermodynamics like H2-cars.

Now, Tesla (and the US in general) has a brand toxicity problem, and it is worsening. People I know that would consider a Tesla some years ago now drive electric VWs or BWMs or KIAs, often times much more expensive cars than the comparable Tesla 3 / Y model.

This trend will probably continue the next years, and I don't see a way for Tesla to repair the brand image.

I don't know. Salt (NaCl) is corrosive. Specific heat capacity is not that high (about 1/5th of water per weight). Suppose you have cubic meter of molten salt at 800°C in a dewar, how do you get the heat out again?

Energy needed for elecation gain when going uphill is independent of speed (to first order, losses in drivetrain are probably a bit higher when driving with higher power).

Available max and continuous torque of electric vehicles isn't necessarily that high compared to ICE vehicles, whats really different is that torque is available instantly and from near 0 RPM and the motor reacts more or less "instantly".

BTW, combining "miles" and "kWh" is strange, shouldn't that be pound*mile²/h ?

A self-reflected sane person would see how that gesture in that context can be misinterpreted and would have avoided it in the first place. It's not like you can't express throwing your heart out only in this way.

So I guess it was deliberate. Deliberate to look like and walk like a sieg heil, only missing the quack. Maybe a provocation, but an unnecessary one and provoking with Nazi symbolism is completely unacceptable.

It was not a coincidence that it looked like one. Nobody with knowledge of contemporary history would make a gesture that could be interpreted as "Sieg Heil" by mistake at an event that is watched worldwide.

Then the obvious solution is to put solar panels over parking spots at work. Doesn't need to be that much power, 1-2kW is enough if the car sits there all day (for typical distances people commute with cars)

As european and a driver of a model 3, I would also not consider buying a tesla again. It's not the car, it has some flaws, I never bought into the FSD bullshit and basically knew what I was going into. But now it more and more feels like driving a car with a huge swastika sticker on it, and I don't see that going away in the foreseeable future.
