As just one data point here, let me say thank you for all your writing on it; it was super useful to have things to point at to say “we don’t have to just blindly do a thing the auditor suggested!” for our SOC2.
At least concert tickets are somewhat aligned with listening to music, unlike autoplaying video podcasts on the homepage rather than showing my playlists.
A lot of these videos get recommended to me, and although I haven't done hardware designs in 10+ years at this point, it's pushing me to get back into it again - and PCBWay lives in my head rent-free for when I do. If it were a one-off sponsorship I'd have forgotten about it, but the consistency across a load of different channels really cements it.
You can check out the protocol at https://github.com/fairpm/fair-protocol - anything WordPress or Typo3 specific are in the extensions, and the core protocol is self-contained. We'd love to work with more ecosystems to bring FAIR to them, and we've already had some discussions with others including maintainers of popular (dependency) package managers.
An "aggregator" is the thing that discovers and lists repositories - the equivalent of a search engine. Anyone can operate one themselves, and we (the FAIR project) operate a canonical one on our website, which is fair.pm.
I think it's understandable for both Backblaze and most users, but surely the solution is to add `.git` to their default exclusion list which the user can manage.
The aggregators can choose who to index, and we operate one at fair.pm - the idea being that you only federate repositories that meet requirements, and can defederate those which are bad actors. (End users can install directly from repositories though, and can always switch the aggregator if they find the rules too restrictive - no lock-in.)
Currently the reference implementation is for WordPress, but we’re working to bring it to Typo3 and other software at the moment too. The protocol is comprised of a core plus per-software extensions when needed.
We didn’t give up! We’ve pivoted efforts - focussing more on the technical part of the project, and expanding into other ecosystems. We’re currently working with the Typo3 community to bring FAIR there, as well as expanding further.

A 450kph limit for the rolling stock is great, but how many lines are actually capable of these speeds? There's only a single line (Chengdu–Chongqing, currently under construction) which is designed for 350kph, with sections capable of 400kph. Aside from that, most lines are at 350kph - unless I'm missing something.
I’ve been procrastinating on one as well, but I can recommend the Inkplate devices, which come with a ESP32, battery, and a case (optionally); handy platform to hack on. (If only it were so easy to finish the project…)
They consented to their data being used to verify their identity, not to train an AI on their data. Each separate purpose the data is being processed for needs its own basis.
Nexstar's stations blocked access from European IPs, providing a 451 Unavailable for Legal Reasons response code; Nexstar are the largest TV station owner in the US, so a large number of sites for local affiliates were unavailable. I think other networks (Sinclair) may have also one so.

Boring Company has actually built tunnels and passengers are actually riding it. No one else is even trying.
Boring Company bought an existing tunnel boring machine (TBM), and used it to dig a car tunnel. Their only “innovation” in terms of any cost savings is to dig smaller tunnels - which we already knew could be done (tunnel cost grows with diameter), and which we don’t do for good reasons (capacity, emergency egress).
The branding and marketing exercise was excellent though.
Not as bad as the Glasgow one, which feels like travelling on a 2/3 scale model of a subway with alarmingly narrow platforms.
For anyone who's not aware, the Glasgow Subway is literally smaller - the track gauge is 4ft (85% of standard gauge), and the rolling stock (trains) is similarly scaled down, to the point that you probably have to duck if you're over 6ft.

Strongly disagree. The core Docker technology was an excellent product and as the article says, had a massive impact on the industry. But they never found a market for that technology at any price point that wasn't ~free, so they didn't have PMF. That technology also only took off in the way it did because it was free and open source.
That's partially due to history: Vimeo was split out of CollegeHumor, and CollegeHumor became Dropout. (Both were part of IAC and were spun out/sold off.)

There's a slightly different (I think) bug which I've been hitting since the update with URLs. The URL keyboard allows long-pressing on the . to open various TLDs, speeding how long it takes to write a URL.
In prior versions, you could long press to open the choices, then letting go would insert the default (eg .com)
With iOS 26, the touch target seems to be slightly different for triggering the options vs selecting them. I now frequently long-press, see the TLD choices with the default selected, and then releasing incorrectly inserts a single . instead of the TLD. This is infuriating when typing fast.
We moved off HashiCorp's Terraform Cloud when they tried to hike the price 100x on us, although that was technically pre-acquisition I think (it was their move to resource-based pricing). In talking with our account manager, they basically said they only really cared about enterprise accounts, and that migrating away would probably make sense for us.
HashiCorp also changed their licenses to non-open-source licenses, but again I think this was technically pre-acquisition (I think as they were gearing up to be a more attractive target for an exit).
Note that VASAviation's visualisations are not always 100% synched with ATC radio recordings, and the radio usually has gaps removed. It's a useful overview to see the tracks, but take the video's timing with a grain of salt.

It’s how Apple (relatively famously?) developed the iPhone, so I’d assume they were using this as a model.
In other words, should he shrink the Mac, which would be an epic feat of engineering, or enlarge the iPod? Jobs preferred the former option, since he would then have a mobile operating system he could customize for the many gizmos then on Apple’s drawing board. Rather than pick an approach right away, however, Jobs pitted the teams against each other in a bake-off.
This implies Xerox got no return on their research, and simply let Apple take their research, which isn't true. Rather, it was part of the investment deal they made with Apple [1]:
Apple was already one of the hottest tech firms in the country. Everyone in the Valley wanted a piece of it. So Jobs proposed a deal: he would allow Xerox to buy a hundred thousand shares of his company for a million dollars—its highly anticipated I.P.O. was just a year away—if PARC would “open its kimono.”
Xerox clearly undervalued the research they were producing, but it wasn't like they just gave it away entirely. Per [2] the valuation of those shares in 2018 would be $1.2 billion had they not sold them - undervalued in hindsight, but not nothing.
Xerox's lack of capitalisation was a problem of their own making, not something inherent about investing in basic research.
