Logitech used to be great. Years ago my mice broke, they asked me to destroy it and send video, and sent me replacement which arrived several days later. I think it was even out of warranty, and i just posted ticket to check if anything can be done, wasn't even asking for replacement. Hasn't paid anything, too, they covered shipping costs as well.

Sadly, nowadays their CS is shit (long waiting times and i heard that they stopped that "destruction replacements"), quality of their peripherals is shit (two logitech g502 started double clicking or de-pressing buttons after just 5 months, and that's 150$ mice! And switches in their mechanical keyboard started to die after less than a year), and logitech g hub is probably one of the worst peripheral software i ever used, on par with razer one.

I almost religiously used logitech peripherals for years. Now it's just different company.

Grafana, not "customer support" per se (because i'm not paying customer), but their community slack have grafana team devs who frequently answer questions and help with issues. I hit pretty specific issue in one of their products, and one of their devs (Joe Elliot, if i recall correctly) spent some significant amount of his time to help me debug and identify some issue that only, it seems, emerged in my specific install. Generally common sight in their slack, seems like they do care alot about their opensource community.

Teamspeak and mumble are still alive. Definitely not as popular as it used to be, but not dead for sure.

Mumble is still big in eve online afaik, due to some funky auth processes with EVE account.

Teamspeak forums are still pretty active too, and updates are still being released at a regular pace. I'm still keeping teamspeak as primary voice chat for my small gaming community and i hear from my users that TS3 voice quality is superior to discord. Plus if something happens with server, i can fix issues myself, since i host TS3 server on my hardware. Which is not the case with discord - if you have issues with discord server, your only choice is to wait.

You definitely can, but legality of such procedure is questionable. DMR uses AMBE codec, which require licensing from DVSI, but you can find open-source implementation on github (mdelib, jMBE). Projects such as DSD-FME[1], which allows you to decode much more than just DMR (P25, NXDN or SDRTrunk[2], which allows you to listen to trunking systems (p25, dmr tier 3 and much more) uses software implementation. I never ran postgres in prod in k8s, but i used cloudnative-pg for some light, non-critical loads, dev/stg stuff. It works and it's fast, recovery just works (unlike zalando, which refuses to operate with anything but AWS s3). I also reported few minor bugs to cnpg team and they fixed them in no time.

Was looking at some way to get good openstreetmaps app on windows tablet (pretty much all windows mapping apps sucks), and with WSA i can run good old osmand or organicmaps. Needs better way to install APKs, though. And proper settings interface with permissions management and etc.

Initially on windows 10, i upgraded to win11 and tablet experience was miserable, to say the least. Half of (tablet) stuff working in 10 won't work in win 11.

This is not true. WhatsApp is still working. They banned facebook and instagram but not whatsapp. Viber, Signal, Threema, Wire still works, too. The only blocked currently, i think, is Line.

With DLSS, yeah. I expected game to run without DLSS on 4090. But it still can't hit 60fps even in desert. And nope, it's GPU bottleneck, it just uses all 100% of gpu power.

DLSS is nice, but you still can notice some flickering on neon stuff, hair, etc in cyberpunk with DLSS enabled.

It is strange one, but try to disable SMT and limit cores to 3 while playing dolphin. Solved all of my issues. Guess linux version have some issues when limiting cores.

We're talking about portable games here. There will always be some drawback due to power limit and other issues. While i can relate to your sentence about games being horribly behind due to "platform parity", that probably won't work for portable platform.

Cyberpunk just have awful optimization. Sure, it's pretty (when it works) but even 4090 can't pull it on max settings at 4k@60fps after all the patches. People will say "it's 2 GPU generations ahead" but why would you release such game. It's just excuse to justify horrible optimization.

There was interview with valve [1], and i'm pretty sure there will be no "steam deck 2" anytime soon. They want better battery and screen (tbh, my deck have pretty noticeable IPS glow in dark scenes), but that's it. So i expect "steam deck pro" to be like switch OLED compared to switch v1/v2 - better battery, better screen, same performance.

Also, keeping current deck hw specs will allow developers to focus on single device when optimizing game for deck. Some games (i.e. cyberpunk 2077) already have dedicated "steam deck" graphics preset. Some (i.e. sons of the forest) have steamdeck: true/false variable in debug window. Maybe we'll see dedicated deck support in some game engines? Who knows.

Well it isn't single-purpose, you can get browser, discord, spotify, irc or anything just by swapping to desktop mode... But i'd rather use my phone or pc for that and leave deck for games.

Also, on steamdeck subreddit i saw people using it as their main PC (not much power, but definitely more than enough for majority of day-to-day tasks, especially with external monitor). I recall motorola razr (android one) had dualboot (android + ubuntu), and when plugged to external monitor you was able to use it as a small PC. But due to pretty weak hardware back in 2011, this idea never took off.

I've finished more games during this fall on the deck than my PC during the last two years.

I can say the same, but about single-player games. I play games very often (you can call me addict if you want), but every time i get to my PC i always get dragged into some coop/multiplayer game by my friends. While with deck, i can just drop to bed, fire up some game i've been delaying to play for 5 years, and finally complete it. Almost without distractions.

I have pretty severe hand pain after prolonged use of switch. Getting case with big grips definitely helps, but then switch gets much bigger.

While prolonged use of deck is also noticeable, it's much, much less taxing on hands. Or so i feel. Probably because it's more comfortable to hold due to size and built-in grips?

Some years ago I flashed patched bios to run "not supported" wifi card on HP notebook. For some reason they had a whitelist of wireless modules you can use. Pretty sure I used that website for patching said bios.
