Why does the youtube miniplayer suck so much?! X has the best one i've seen on any platform. You can actually pop the player out of the browser and move it anywhere you want and it has 0 chrome just a window with the video in it amazing!

Seems like Starlink has potential to completely disrupt undersea cables once the network is larger. Obviously it wont ever be the same latency or bandwidth as an undersea cable but it would be near impossible to tap and much cheaper.
dropbox did something useful. It made it easy to share files across platforms and the web. This is a feature that should be part of your calendar software to allow people to create calendar entries in your calendar and see availability.
tell me your an employee without telling me your an employee
So calendly is worth billions? and cal.com has millions invested and 90% of hacker news readers could build both these products in a weekend or 2 why do these companies exist?
Is it a big secret that m1 macs don’t work with external monitors?? The problem has been getting worse with each new forced update.
Using my monitor via HDMI and apples 100$ dongle it constantly turns off randomly and will not come back on without unplug and plug back in.
Everything else is great but after like 5 updates that claim to fix the issue but still having issues maybe apple should make some notification about the problem so people don’t buy this if they have serious work they need to get done.
Mosh over any vpn worked when I was there.
Check out the xioami notebook pro great specs and price with macbook like build quality. i hear you can even run hackintosh on it. I have the xiaomi notebook 12 running ubuntu and its great!
Cheap vps with aws cloudfront in front of it.
Whats the point of a safety driver who's eyes are not on the road? Pretty easy to monitor if the safety driver is paying attention or looking down every second like this safety driver was.
If you want to acquire users from google search its absolutely required that you have fresh and frequently updated content with links from other reputable sources to even be considered to be displayed on a search result.
If you don't care about acquiring users from search as you have other means then yes a blog may be a complete waste of time.
If your site already has some crawl-able content and your already receiving some traffic from google, rather than create a blog your time is probably better spent doing the following:
creating more content pages to help google understand your site
creating a sitemap
decreasing the load time of your site
spend money on google ads
get high quality back links
I found https://mosh.org/ quite useful to get a working ssh session thru the GFW. The GFW can introduce latency and packet loss to encrypted connections which mosh seems to handle nicely.
i'm on a 2013 mac book pro retina and see no reason to upgrade to the latest model. If it died tomorrow i'd look for a refurbed 2015 model.
Mostly i blame intel for not releasing mobile chipsets capable of more than 16GB of ram but apple is also to blame for allowing this.
My next purchase will hopefully be a amd ryzen based laptop with 64GB of ram running linux in 2018 pls.
Here is the link to the new search console:

My sites aren't available yet but looking forward to trying it
really cool idea but it didn't work for me. It distorted the logo and made it look much worse. Would be great if you generated a unique url for each icon that is uploaded so i could share it with you.
i was hoping this was a library that would help me to disable pull to refresh. Anyone know of a good library that can help to disable this in browsers?
Pull to refresh on mobile chrome or safari is really terrible ux for web apps. It's ok for content sites but if you have an app that you want to behave like a native app it's really terrible. A good example is maps.google.com. Even if you install it as a home screen app it still has the stupid pull to refresh gesture in chrome.
I wish there was some way to disable it in browsers. I have tried many things like position: fixed or overflow-y:hidden but these have other side effects like preventing the keyboard from repositioning the window in chrome or safari.
In general if a web browser overrides any touch gestures they should be able to be disabled by the page without having to handle every touchmove yourself.
I think for fb to enter china it would first need to allow china to spy on its citizens. This censorship tool is just something they can publicly say they changed to allow them in.
If windows was free for schools, consumers and developers for the last 15 years I think the tech landscape would look much different than it does today in Microsofts favour. Also I dont think that it would affect their revenue that much. If i'm not mistaken most of their revenue comes from enterprise licensing.
Here I thought Microsoft was changing.. Why not make the consumer/developer version free for all and only charge for the enterprise versions.
Is it so hard for them to realize that they can make more money in the long run if people use windows rather than promoting other free alternatives by putting a price on it?
On the bright side they are no longer running XP!
VPS (debian) needed websockets and SSL
Actually check out the webrtc talk from googleio. They use the NAT device's IP to get around this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8C8ouiXHHk
Eventually consumers will figure out what most of this crowd probably knows already. If you want the best android phone experience with the cleanest implementation and the most updates buy the phones produced / branded google.
I use an Ikea UTBY straight up no mods. I found it in craigslist for 80$. It's the perfect height for me. (5'8) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49843462/
Nope we've got a handful now and we're hiring! http://www.pof.com/careers
I used to only use textmate because eclipse/adt was soooo slow. Since adt 12 is out and i have a brand new iMac eclipse is working just fine for me now. That said i still use ant to manually compile my releases.
The real news here is that while Microsoft is losing the smart phone market they are the market leaders in the bot net market with a clear 100%!
Thank you Microsoft for helping to clean up your mess!
Anyone know whats taking so long for Google Voice to become available in Canada? How are you planning to compete with free when it is available? I'd love to see conference calls and virtual programmable ivr as a added service.
Calling land lines is soo year 2000. I need a local number and a SIP number that forwards to my phone or takes a voicemail if i don't answer.
Is it feasible to see free google taxi cabs in major cities that display ads give you internet and keep street view up to date in the next few years?
