As if, facebook and twitter would not have banned him if he used their platform?

They could start by not collaborating with autocratic regimes and doing their bidding. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2021/apr/12/facebook-...
Contrary to popular press, the metaverse wasn't invented by Zuck in october 2021. Opensimulator is the most popular open metaverse since 10 years and more.
That one is Maria Korolov's blog where she blogs more about facebook and oculus these days (with obvious paid guest posts that are ads). Her grid list s manually crafted and very outdated. Curious why you didn't know of opensimworld , it exists for more than 5 years and its teleporters are everywhere. She has even embedded the opensimworld twitter feed in her front page.
Its not automatic. China took decades of policy and benefited from periods of global growth. India has different politics
True but apple sells luxury , or premium products. They don’t seem to care for poorer countries
There is, of course. Government build ports, airports, customs etc. This is part of digital infrastructure (until the day comes that stores are no longer needed).
This but unironically
So they are competing on same terms as google, in practice. Thats good
No they do not
I dont think people catch the virus through contaminated surfaces. It s almost always airborne transmission
I’ve admired Facebook’s stunning growth
Facebook s growth ended almost a decade ago, and its increasingly irrelevant
I will point out that a lot of his twitter opinions would not be well received here
Vatc added at point of sale so in theory there is some benefit.
Apple tax is aptly named because the analogy is good: it s mandatory (though not at gunpoint) , it s proportionate and arbitrary (might make sense if it was only on app sales, but why do they mandate a cut of subscription revenue? What do they offer in return?) and it s just too unjustifiably high
Taxation is theft.
That said, i dont see how paying the apple tax for the apps i buy is benefiting me at all, since i'm in Europe.
That s pure whataboutsm. Nothing stops apple from vetting apps without charging an extortionate 30% tax. They have plenty of money to do that. Or do you imply that apple’s tax deters scammers? Then , how are these companies accepted in the app store?
That just means that 3 or more are already on the plan. With the UK gone it s not even an issue of rivalry anymore. The eu could promote this as a means to facilitate international trade, and frankly i dont see why members would disagree since it s already de facto happening
This exact idea is something i m advocating for decades. Some countries already have english as a sec language (cyprus and i think malta).
The only way to have competition is if FB started a search engine or if google bought instagram
We just need an SMTP extension that says ‘this email is a notification. Delete after x days’. The rest of the mechanism is there. Apple and google will follow. Emails may not be instant but most notifs are not urgent. I know there are 1000 other protocols out there, but email is the only one that s widely used and hasn’t been bastardized or wallgardened
Yes if course. Developers need to treat all commercial platforms with cynicism and realize that they re honeytraps. You are always allowed to eat at first but then you gotta run out asap
Apple seems to be on a PR offensive after a few weeks of bad press and it seems they are employing their usual bloggers to entertain the developer audience. I dunno why devs participate in this PR circus.
And btw the author is wrong about comparing to facebook’s platform, which is still the most open, free to use large platform out there.
Like Twitter v Facebook
Yeah but they have the best SEO
Yes because heavy pages clog their crawlers. Of course they are not following their advice (neither does FB)
That tells me their job is easier than we think, so they may face ‘disruption’ soon
Did people say that 20 years ago?
No need to offend the sheep
You mean a lucky generation. They ll find better things to do than addicting people to scroll through pictures
Since the us finance authorities are willing to prop up the stock market forever, it would be foolish not to join the ride. Lets see how far they can push it
