I don't have a clear image of how Docker behaves on Mac, but I had wasted a whole day trying to make it work on Windows WSL.

I'd suggest you virtualize a normal Linux host on your machine (under VMware for example) and run Docker there.

Snaps are great for auto updating software, especially the ones from JetBrains.

I think most users will be fine. Those of us who need more fine grained control, can have it.

Burning out is definitely a taste from hell, if hell exists.

Exactly a decade ago I found myself talking to my mother in foreign languages on the phone, thinking I was talking to my clients. I even got used to lucid dreaming as it happened at least once per week.

Took me three weeks to get back any desire to (even think to) code again.

It left a sour taste in my mouth that Microsoft joined Chrome instead of investing in FireFox and helping them advance their multi-process architecture quicker.
