Found these a couple weeks ago and bought the golf PDF for my <7y/o nephew and he was initially hesitant but then thrilled once he understood the basic premise. Didn’t have the heart to start teaching him A* and manhattan distance, that’ll come later.

I’m glad the creator made this and am looking forward to seeing more of these

Just want to give a quick shout out to coauthor Tom Griffiths for being an amazing educator; I attended his class before this book was published and was delighted when this book covered the general ideas covered. I’m always happy to recommend it to others looking to understand more about computer science in an approachable way

I think an answer to this is raw data. Data is data and you can of course massage the information to do what you want[1] and it can also be argued that it's been misinterpreted and improperly reported since the beginning of time. The truth is that the only "true" judgement that can be made is by the person who reads and interprets the raw data. If we make more "actualizations" like this where it takes a raw information stream and leaves it to the viewer to interpret, it will become less exploitable.

Akin to a thermometer, there are reporters and newscasters who can tell you the weather outside and we hope they are not deceitful but if you look at a thermometer, you have the raw data and you can make that judgement yourself.

Visualizations like these are incredible and I want to see more like them. We're at a time where data wealth and transparency is becoming more and more sought out and computers/microcontrollers are incredibly cheap.

An installation like this one would be thought provoking in an art gallery or event space, especially if it's pulling raw data. The silence, or even onslaught of noise, would be deafening. Presentations like these give a much more tangible understanding than points on a graph.

As much as I love racket/scheme/lisp, I truly believe that the 61A (sans-s) where python is taught, helped me much more for my career/future just because it was taught in python. For programming fundamentals, either works great, but I think working with python is more helpful for future environments.

One example of this is when a classmate of mine was taking an artificial intelligence class at Berkeley (Cog Sci 131) and was at a loss because she was taking 61as which was taught in strictly scheme, and the artificial intelligence class was taught in strictly python.

Living in the east bay (Berkeley) means your options are pretty limited in terms of service, but we have a local company (www.lmi.net) which has incredible service. When there was an outage, they sent the technician 2 hours after I called and I've never had any trouble with them.

Interestingly the page says that it has no problem but I can't log into mail.Google.com or send any mail from my phone.

I really like this idea and especially like the idea of making it more of a "live event"

At a recent hackathon I was documenting how I was feeling and rough progress reports on the hack but that's just text with a time stamp. If Tiny could use my webcam to record what i'm doing and then create a cinemagraph-like loop of myself it would create much more of an acceptable reading for family and friends than just a markdown file.

Where I really see Tiny shining is the mobile aspect though. Tiny seems like it will be a vine competitor in the future where you can access posts and see a quick video in the background of a concert or travelling through some landscape. While reading you'd see the blurred movie in the background and you could click out of focus of the post the movie would come in focus.

I worked at NASA (AMES) on a project to put small mobile robots on the moon. Our biggest goal was to create a tele-operated mode where from earth we could actively roam around the moon. The hardest part was that factoring in a 4 second delay from our commands to the network stacks to the rover on the moon, and then that video from the moon back to our computers and then creating good judgement. A 4 second delay seems insignificant but is in fact detrimental to intuitive controlling.

Yeah, I've never bought anything off ebay because i've been uncertain about trusting the sellers there. I think I may go with something off of ebay though. Thanks for your help :]
