The difference isn’t nearly that dramatic, but there are definitely savings to be had via the app.

I grew up in a poor, rural area of the US and can attest that it's true... if you didn't pay the fee (and affix the requisite metal sign below your mailbox) you were on your own in the event of a fire.
At that time and place, fire protection wasn't considered a public service unless you lived in town. I never heard anyone question the arrangement and there was little appetite in that era for the tax increase that would've been required to provide universal protection.
I remember that as well. Just assumed that the unstated reason was to assist in identifying deceased kids.

The bigger concern is whether there will be funds to process the next $10B of withdrawals.
There is a built-in feature, known as Application Guard, on Windows 10/11 that gives you exactly this out of the box, with minimal configuration. Biggest downside is that it only works with Edge.
For their UniFi line, at least, you don't have to use their cloud controller. You can self-host.

Windows for ARM can already run 32-bit x86 executables. They’re working to bring similar support for 64-bit software.
They still support it, it’s just not the default any longer for drives that report the capability.

I think they’re trying to get around this by explicitly saying there will be no migration path, but it’ll be interesting to see whether they actually get away with that.
Recent iPhone models can handle multiple SIMs, but only one physical SIM card. The rest have to be eSIMs.

This is, at least in part, a result of MINIX using a highly permissive license. It’s easier to use an open source OS in relative secrecy if you aren’t required to release your modifications. And an organization with deep technical expertise like Intel would not likely need much assistance from the community for their implementation.
How is the parent trying to impose anything on you? By what mechanism would they be able to do so?
My understanding is that residential usage of IPv6 actually outpaces Enterprise adoption in the US.
I'm not a subject matter expert, but a Google Voice number can be used to receive texts and is protected by the relatively robust security of your Google account.
Reading the original source with an ad blocker installed may not be providing as much support as you imagine.
