Anders Ericsson's Peak was already suggested and I think it offers great advice on how to become the best you can be at any given pursuit.

A few keys from it: 1- Push yourself out of your comfort zone; 2- Have clear, well-defined, goals for what you want to achieve, either in the overall skill and for each practice session; 3- Total focus while practicing; 4- Get feedback from people who know what you want to do looks like

"Traditional frameworks (e.g. Bulma) are great if you don't have lots of design experience but want to build something decent looking."

This nails it the head. As someone with very little experience in frontend technologies I found that Bulma was very clear in the purpose of each class and how they could be used together.

I'm also using a Tailwind template in another project, but probably because I didn't build it by hand, I found it harder to wrap my ahead around it.

It's only a month old, so no big backlog to roam through. I don't think it's awesome yet, I don't want to have peaked at two posts, but I'm trying to give it all on every single thing I write.

I'm going to write about teams, software, and how to get the first to the best of the second. Or not, I'm just trying to see where this takes me.

Definitely a human being though.

I would love to know more about this project of yours. Do you have something written about how did you got it started, what lessons have you learned, or plans for the future?

I built my first side project.

www.itswinwinboardgames.com

It takes your wishlist from BGG and analyses the geek market looking for the best prices for each board game in it.

I built it mainly with Python+Flask+Bulma, an all new tech stack for me, and I use it almost daily, because who doesn't like to find some bargains.

All in all, 95% of the advice floating around about how to start something is on point and I encourage everyone to launch THAT idea in 2020.

Hello HN!

This is my first time showing something here. So, here it goes. Win-Win does one thing, and one thing only (for now). It takes the games from your Wishlist, and/or Want To Buy, collection on Boardgamegeek and analyses the Geek Market looking for how much of a discount the lowest priced item has in comparison to the median price and the second lowest priced item.

Why

Long story short: I want to create things that people would like to use.

This was partially an answer to that, in the hopes that "people" is not just me. Also, if possible, I would like to create something related to what I like to do, hobbie or area of interest. Guess What? Board games are pretty much a check in all categories. So, here we are.

Next

Well, I have some ideas that could improve the app. But I don't even know if what it currently promises will be enough to handle what you want. I know there's most likely bugs to find and you will probably have ideas and suggestion to improve Win-Win that haven't thought about until now. So any way you can contribute, you can reach me here, or check the About page, where you'll find additional details of contact.

Enjoy!
