I keep hearing these “I work in some hard field and the LLM isn’t any good at it”. I keep asking for examples and no one can provide them.

Why not check out now? Why after this year ? You supposedly have the means to do so now , so why not exit now?
You won’t exit after this year. You’ll keep pushing it out.
I believe the parent comment was saying that the YT poster should have gotten some revenue share. Since the work they put in would in theory be enhancing the original work. Obviously these sort of things are created and consumed primarily by “super fans” who probably buy director cuts etc etc .
At least that’s how I read the comment and I agree.
Um… how do you get those requirements if slack / email give you anxiety ? And meetings are disruptive ?
I am genuinely curious. I understand where you are coming from, you want to maintain flow state.
How does one effectively load the funnel to support flow state ?
Jira tickets? Requirements documents in some kind of ALM tool?
This is fantastic ! Very well done!
I’ve been looking for something exactly like this.
It sits at the right “layer”.
Why do you have zero support from anyone / anywhere ? What caused you to be in that situation? What happened to family / friends ? How have you made money in the past ? Freelancing I presume ?
I’m just pointing out some things I’ve observed. You didn’t really address them, you skillfully redirected.
Also the only activity on your account is this submission / comments on it.
Not sure if this is some kind of guerrilla marketing / feel bad for me approach to stand out from the crowd or what.
A few comments…
1. You are supposedly some super intelligent autistic person… but you can’t even properly format the last lines of your post , so someone would have to struggle to copy / paste the link to your websites . That’s going to be a barrier for most people in a competitive landscape for attention.
2. You have only been on hacker news for 40 days. Or at least this account. Interesting. I’m not sure when an account crosses the “new account” threshold and stops being green.
3. No contact information in your profile. If someone wanted to help you , they would want to reach out directly and privately , you don’t give them a way to do that. Again, you’re supposedly some super smart autistic but you failed at a very basic thing.
I say all the above as gently and respectfully as possible. I’m trying to reconcile your supposedly genius level of intelligence with some fairly basic major gaffes.
Did you feed back the results of the tests / benchmark to the model?
I’m presuming you have a very robust test framework / benchmark setup etc?
I’m presuming you fed the model the baseline results of that setup as a starting point ?
Edit the markdown using GitHub workflow. Then insert markup (pick markdown) into the confluence page.
Works wonderfully!
Why not support open code as well?
Cloudron makes this even easier. Well worth 1.00 a day! Handles the entire stack (backups , monitoring , dns , ssl , updates ).
Why not use Vaultwatden for this ? It has a built in dead man switch recovery system.
Please also add qwen cli support
What you are talking about is called financial operations.
And yes , automating that , very valuable.
Really you want an AI interface to a rules engine / system.
Embed with some companies finops teams if you can. Especially the software engineers who are in finops.
I run umbrel in a VM . For non fiat finops stuff.
I also run Cloudron on a VPS.
I wish both of those solutions had more mindshare. They save me so much time and effort. Especially Cloudron!
Really? Can you link to those solutions please ?
Well downloads doesn’t equal usage does it ?
How do you know how many deployments you actually have in the wild?
VMs are a standardized system primitive. The “bare metal” bit with RBAC etc through the management layer / hypervisor.
K8s is pallets Vms are shipping containers
Systems / storage / network team can present a standardized set of primitives for any vm to consume that are more or less independent of the underlying bare metal.
Then the VMs can be live migrated when the inevitable hardware maintenance is needed (microcode patching , storage driver upgrades , etc etc etc). With no downtime for the vm itself
How do you compare to When To work? Or Hot Schedules ?
I’ve found the combination of Netcup (either tier of offering has been wonderful ) combined with Cloudron gives me the best of both worlds. A marketplace one click app deployment and resources I can scale up or down as needed.
I’m building a business around that offering (turnkey VPS + Cloudron + Backblaze) as I think that gives everyone “cloud” but sovereign. For $250.00 a month.
I use Windows Terminal. Rename tab.
My current project I have a top level chat , then one chat in each of the four component sub directories.
I have a second terminal with QA-feature
So 10 tabs total . Plus I have one to run occasional commands real quick (like docker ps).
I’m using qwen.
Have you tried to ask the agents to work with you in the way you want?
I’ve found that using some high level direction / language and sharing my wants / preferences for workflow and interaction works very well.
I don’t think that you can find an off the shelf system todo what you want. I think you have to customize it to your own needs as you go.
Kind of like how you customize emacs as it’s running to your desires.
I’ve often wondered if you could put a mini LLM into emacs or vscode and have it implement customizations :)
What resource constraints allow you to apt-get but not docker pull? It’s the same resulting stack isn’t it?
I am most curious
I emailed you re the idea.
Why is that expensive ? I’m genuinely asking. Considering the time / labor / troubleshooting etc to put something like this together yourself , plus cost of materials ?
In my mind , the labor rate for a professional is a minimum of 1.00 per minute. This package would be essentially one hour of billable time at the (lowest) rate a professional would bill themselves out at.
Presuming it’s FLO or at least some kind of simple AT command set and meets all the other requirements, I’m really struggling to understand how it’s expensive ?
I mean , sure if you need 10k of them or something.
Are people really this price sensitive ?
Yes it really is horrible at using tools. Codex is way better (even better than Claude code ). Gemini is great at doing audits and content (though I’ve switched to codex for everything all in one).
That is what I’m doing with my excess compute , excess fabrication , CNC, laser , 3d printing , reflow oven etc capacity in between hardware revs for my main product. I also bill out my trusted sub contractors.
I validate the compute renters because ITAR. Lots of hostile foreign powers trying to access compute .
My main business is ITAR related , so I have incredibly high security in place already.
We are multi tenant from day zero and have slurm etc in place for accounting reasons for federal contracts etc. we actually are spinning up federal contracting as a service and will do a ShowHN when that launches.
Riches in the niches and the business of business :)
“ I'm finding that developing prompts, managing context, controlling pace, staying organized and being able to effectively review the LLM's work are required skills for LLM-assisted coding “
Did you not need all these skills / approaches / frameworks for yourself / coding with a team?
This is , I think, the key difference in those (such as myself) who find LLMs to massively increase velocity / quality / quantity of output and those who don’t.
I was already highly effective at being a leader / communicator / delegating / working in teams ranging from small , intimate , we shared a mental model / context up to some of the largest teams on the planet.
If someone wasn’t already a highly effective IC/manager/leader pre LLM, an LLM will simply accelerate how fast they crash into the dirt.
It takes substantial work to be a highly effective contributor / knowledge worker at any level. Put effort into that , and LLMs become absolutely indispensable, especially as a solo founder.
I do agree with that. As a potential customer , reading over the page, it was incredibly redundant / dense.
I recommend using an LLM to rewrite it far more succinctly.
