Also officially signed into law by then California Governor Ronald Reagan.

These same kids can come to the United States and get paid decently with a currency that is 25% more valuable and generally lower taxes (also look at Chicago vs Toronto condo prices...), that is how a government creates a brain drain of young professionals.
Exactly, assuming that we are operating in a non-lawful space would that not enable the most “pure” result of free market capitalism?
$1000/mo per child plus needing to spend at least half a million in the desirable parts of the USA for a house are the real reasons.
Got shipped because IMO this is just a bit too much money to spend.
For me it was the Zomato driver eating out of every curry in his bag and then smushing them down with the fork to make it look like it hadn’t been eaten out of. Also exploitive labor practices (1099s here in the states).
Just come make a donation to a hospital foundation in the USA they will also vaccinate you, and provide Modena or Pfizer instead of Sputnik.
What I am getting from your website is that it is a leaderboard to trade crypto pairs?
Instead of going with a fiat paid system what if you went with a crypto of your own like Numerai (https://docs.numer.ai/tournament/learn) is doing?
From their website: "The Numerai Tournament is where you build machine learning models on abstract financial data to predict the stock market. Your models can be staked with the NMR cryptocurrency to earn rewards based on performance."
Hah just tape a clipboard to the back of your laptop and suddenly all notes are available. Expecting this software to actually prevent unauthorized use of notes/references is foolish.
It’s just distributed weirdly and almost designed to be difficult to navigate.
If you’re poor and in a blue state you get free healthcare comparable to the rest of the developed world. But go over the 30k/year threshold and you’re getting a high-deductible plan and a random number generator for a hospital billing department. Then once you get a job at FAANG and you get great healthcare.
It did not fail at providing money to the military-industrial-congressional complex. But of course we need more fighter jets instead of Medicare for all and UBI.
China is not going to send fighters over to Bomb the us mainland, this thing is totally unnecessary.
I started investing and saving for retirement in mid 2015, and the most I’ve made was just over 60k/yr.
Got about 50% total return since then (121k purchase & 61k return 183ish total). Mostly in VTSAX but the thing is, in late March 2020 I was negative returns, the market really does fluctuate and it is important to not act irrationally. Now it’s 50ish percent return since then.
Now the long game here is that based on my age I only had to put money into retirement for like 5-6years (employer match 401k + Roth contributions) now this will just be left until retirement in 30-40 years assuming the current approximate interest rate of 7-8%year inflation adjusted.
So yeah, just buy as much VTSAX and let it sit for decades. If that doesn’t work the economy of the United States is broken and you have bigger problems to worry about.
Zero kernel panics with an m1 mini used for fullstack node dev. Great little box with a crazy fast single core speed.
3D printed firearms have drastically improved in the last couple years. Here is a 3D printed glock https://ctrlpew.com/freemans-g26-3d-printable-glock-frame-di..., there are also 3D printed ar/ak lowers.
There is only a near-infinite amount housing in the desirable west coast cities that could be built.
Make enough high rise towers like Chicago or NY and the price will go down. But people’s (voters) tax sheltered investments (homes) would also go down in value.
Switched to Apple chips for desktop and phone. Looks like their supply chain is still intact.
Sold my old system for around what I bought it for, so if you want to game these times are whack.
The United States was able to ramp up aircraft production drastically when it entered ww2 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_aircraft_produ....
We already have more deaths from COVID than ww2 yet...crickets on the mask production front. I’m guessing it is because in a year when COVID is not a thing anymore it will not be profitable to have that much capacity and corporations do not want to ramp up that much.
Also making masks is probably not the best strategy. If we used reusable p100 filters that would be much more effective even for the general public. I used to work with fiberglass wearing a similar respirator with an organic vapor cartridge and it was usable for hours at a time, so no idea why we haven’t started using these in high risk [grocery/prisions/schools] instead of KN-95/N-95 of which there is a counterfeit mask problem.
Yeah there’s something going on here. But they don’t realize that the Streisand effect will be or in full force in this. People are going to freak.
Municipal broadband where the county PUD owns the fiber and multiple private companies provide service over them works great. Which is why you can get gigabit internet for like $50 some places and struggle to get decent internet in the suburbs.
Also Comcast is not going to tell the federal government "no" to a data request if it doesn't benifit them.
UBI is an ideological conundrum for most of America. We all voted down free $1000/mo and Medicare For All when Yang and Bernie were eliminated in the Democratic Primary. That just shows how much we are driven out of spite and a one-sided mentality.
Also Joe Biden wants to cut social security so good luck with that happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X3UiSvgle0
Yup just spearfish one of the employees with a password reset email. People including educated developers and MDs are in general very lax about security. But also you have windows 7 legacy systems running specialized equipment that has been validated for that OS and software version number. There is really no way around this, if a country wants to kill Americans right now IMO it is most effective to disable EPIC servers in ND/SD/WI/MT that would cause way too much chaos and people would die.
But also what are we doing running life-critical software on Microsoft-made OS? This is idiotic, it is great for gaming and excel but not hospitals. Microsoft could make another OS based on Linux or BSD and it could not be hot garbage. But that would eat into profits and take...effort. Linux and ChromeOS + 2FA is much better although not perfect.
Most of this country will not be able to save enough for retirement. It might make sense here to just eliminate 401ks and IRAs and use the meet increase in that revenue to expand SSA to actually be a national pension program. But politics kinda prevents this.
How is knowledge of the markets utterly irrelevant to most people's lives?
Knowing the reasoning behind not trying to time the market will allow you to have the moral foritude to not sell your retirement fund when the market is freaking out, like it did this spring. That is much more valuable knowledge for most people then knowing higher math and English literature.
Another place that the education system is totally worthless is healthcare. Do the schools teach us to contact our insurance companies for interaction Id numbers to see if a provider is in network and then proce we contacted 6months later...hah no. Yet just this last week I had two different providers offices try and schedule me for an appointment costing $160-$200 that subsequently my insurance would not pay for. However the in-network rate is $10. Yes this is a mess but even though it is a mess education is instead trying to teach a classical liberal arts education which most people neither want nor need.
We need educational reform in this country and significant cuts to the educational system could be exactly what is needed as a wake-up call.
We need more VTSAX and less english majors. Start saving young and income doesn't really matter if your trying to FIRE.
Also healthy eating habits and information about birth control should be taught in addition to financial literacy and at the expense of the current curriculum, but it is not because politics (both left and right here).
It's slightly different here in the United States. We already have medicaid if you make less than about $1400/mo it is free. I have purchased health insurance coverage through the state exchange and that is where the real fun begins.
Here you basically have to ask your insurer if they will pay for damn near everything and record the interaction ID otherwise you're getting a supprise bill which are supposedly banned.
Had to deal with this in the last week it is infuriating wasting so much time on hold or navigating through a phone tree.
We should really be making a yellow vest style movement against this just and burn the whole healthcare system down. Unless you work for a select few companies or have the medicaid it's a nightmare to deal with.
Also the problem is we don't give a damn about preventative care and nutrition so you end up with a majority overweight/obese population that you could have prevented with a fraction of the cost in preventative care.
Starbucks/Amazon do this all the time too. I want to know when my coffee is ready and not when you're having a sale or it's double star day.
Much of the population who invests in index funds. Look at this article from 2013, look at AAPL and XOM performance then, https://www.forbes.com/sites/dividendchannel/2013/01/25/exxo...
Index funds have allowed me to not have to save for retirement anymore (have enough based on FV calc), and yes buying the FAANG stocks 6 years ago would have yielded much larger returns, but could also have yielded losses if they went the way of Exxon.
We could have said this about XOM a couple years ago. Look where it is now.
That is really interesting, I haven't had an AMD card for >10 years now and would really like to be rid of Nvidia due to the closed source drivers. How is suspend/resume? Thinking about canceling my pre-order queue with EVGA and getting a 6xxx card.
We do have that here too, you can apply to be an electrician (IBEW I think) and other trades and be paid on the job to learn. Unfortunately high paying jobs like IT or pharmacy you have to pay first.
Must be very affordable real estate where you live. There’s also something like this for a backyard office https://www.costco.com/installed-sheds-by-studio-shed---bore...
