at levels that only result in a little dizziness.

Anecdotal first hand account, I would have to completely disagree with you. I tried intravenous ketamine therapy about a year ago. I’m plenty experienced with psychoactives, having experienced several at varying doses, so I knew what I was in for. My IVKT experience was a full on trip, definitely not just passive dizziness.

Everyone I know who used to pirate music, now just subscribes to Spotify or whatever. So definitely not the case there.

Sure, people can ascend through income classes, but there’s always a new cohort of broke young people. I imagine young adults today are pirating plenty as well.

There’s some economic idea I heard a long time back whenever I hear about piracy, where basically the argument for allowing piracy of digital goods is “well, the majority of digital pirates lack the income to be honest customers in the first place; even if you managed to stop 100% of digital piracy, you’re not going to find any residual revenue.”

I don’t know how I feel about it, but it always intrigued me.

Can somebody please explain to me why this doesn’t constitute a major version due to a breaking change? Maybe I didn’t read precisely enough but it sure sounds like a breaking semantic, esp. with the fact that “this will only work for versions 1.22 and later.” Sounds like a version upgrade trap to me? What am I missing?

Or is it just because it’s Golang and they’re “we’ll never release a go v2 even if we actually do release go v2 and call it v1.x”

“I flew stealth fighters in the Air Force. I flew the F-22. It’s an amazing airplane, but we only bought a hundred eighty-seven of them.“

“When we look to the future, we just think that this economic model doesn’t work—so we’re going to increase the mass, just the number of physical things, that we’re able to bring into the theatre.”

I mean generally speaking wouldn’t you not want your enemies to get hands on your tech? Like, with solution it’s basically like saying “come join us, let’s make a shit show of it.”

I’m trying to bootstrap some robotics knowledge for myself to try and start building a portfolio of robotics projects and then go look for jobs. I’ve got an industry background in SE, from distributed cloud computing to low level embedded systems & os driver development, plus a background in higher maths & physics (diffeq+group theory, qm), and a familiarity with the SOTA of ML from 2022.

Is this book a good starting place for theory, or would I be better served looking elsewhere? Is my approach of trying to build a small private portfolio stupid, can I get hired without a degree? I’m interested in trying to get into industrial automation.

I feel like Andy Weir did a phenomenal job with his handful of books. The Martian, Project Hailmary. Both of these felt more like team effort emphasis, which I liked.
