Unpopular take:

I "just" use google chrome password manager for "everything".. yes im sure it horrifies some HN ppl but my thinking is, from all the password managers out there, does anyone one spend more on security or hire better security ppl or have access to better security tools and infra than google (yes yes im sure outliers and some counter examples exists).

I routinely die a little inside when i see my gf (none techie) try and remember which one of her fav 3-5 often used passwords she has used for site/service abc as she tries to login.

Kinda tongue in cheek, I always tell her if you can remember your password it's a bad one !

Samurai City 2 months ago

Great article.. NGL, in about the first paragraph and visual intro, I already was hoping and wanting a real Samurai city MMO/RPG with a true vibrant city and interresting characters to explore..

Me (char) climbing the ranks and politics while hiding my secret ninja origin from the nobles trying to get closer to the shogun.. Sometimes doing side-quest in my Samurai outfit-and-skillset... and sometimes doing missions in my ninja-outfit-and-skillset..

But good article :) It's Friday and I'm feeling creative

Been thinking of this mental model held by some "oh ai coding is always bad etc etc" (fair we all allowed opinions).

But why are we okey with colleagues making from time to time terrible blunders (hey we all human ). But when ai makes mistakes its a sweeping judgment of "oh ai coding is terrible".

We seen to not include all the amazing code they do right and security bugs they do find..

I feel if it was a human or colleague we be more fair with its failure and balance about his/her achievements also.

Just a thought.ymmv

StarFighter 16-Inch 3 months ago

Looks nice ! :) I like the design and name

Not sure who the target market is.. but on the homepage it only lists the CPU's in the era of AI/Models etc I'd put the GPU and VRAM somewhere on mainpage as well.

Even when I view "Tech Specs" still don't see the VRAM ? Just some feedback.

Laws of UX 3 months ago

These are nice (and ofc not set in stone).

Me not being a "traditional or natural" designer, I like to have a set of best practises recipes or laws. These laws might be difficult to constantly hold in your head. I think this is a PERFECT starting point for AI to "bulk check" some screens.

Honestly I would map it to a short-cut, like I map "format source code" to a shortcut. If you building business software a set of laws or (shortcut mapped to them) can be really useful as a sanity check.

In fact I just did that:

- Downloaded the UX Laws as a screenshot

- Downloaded a screenshot of a dashboard (a userform might have worked better)

- Asked ChatGPT and Claude to do a review with those laws in mind and then to create a new mockup based on those recommendations

Zed 1.0 3 months ago

Congrats on shipping !

I love that most of my (small but important) set of keyboard shortcuts from VSCode jsut works.

- Terminal - Ctrl + P (and siblings).

Suggestion (minor):

To me, font size is as import these days as dark/light mode. Would be cool if basic font-size (ui panel etc, were part of default/first-run config)

Also like that AI is a "first class citizen" it seems on Zed.

Well done guys :)

English is not my first language, although I am ok with it, whenever I write I always pump it through an AI first with a prompt of "Make it better English", especially if its a business email with English speaking clients.

I enjoyed your article and shared it on my family-geek-whatsapp group

Ubuntu 26.04 3 months ago

Been a long time i3 user. Usually works well if you put in the initial time. But of late been very happy with Xubuntu (xfce)

Honestly... Its more machine vocab than human level vocab.

Ipv4 is jsut about able still to hold in your head, have a convo or more importantly you can: "Shout an ipv4 across the open office floor from your desk to your tech colleague"

If you shout an ipv6 address in public, you jsut seem broken

Claude Design 3 months ago

I know what you mean.. and me as traditional none designer have been using bootstrap css since the start. As usually my css would look like an engineer trying toso design.

When you say old school artisnal design and weirdness do you mean something like this: (shameless plug, but relevant to design)

https://swellslots.com (surf forecast site)

The design for this was literally "90s Arcade / street fighter 2 look"

Funny enough without AI, i would not have been skilled enough to make the graphics (background, logo etc)

I went down this road with their Japanese.. in summary, their focussing on "words" vs "phrasing/talking" from day one like Pimsleur was, wat killed it for me.

On that note Pimsleur was/is EXCELLENT for me: 1. Focusing on phrases vs words 2. Talking from Day 1 3. Lesson oriented.

I do love this, but haven't managed to actually try it out. ( I stopped trying and moved on)

But well done for launching (the following is not hate, but onboarding feedback)

Who else had issues about API key ?

1. What is a TMUXAI_OPENROUTER_API_KEY ?? (is like an OPENAI key) ?

2. If its an API key for TMUXAI ? Where do I find this ? Can't see on the website ? (probably haven't searched properly, but why make me search ?)

3. SUPER simple instructions to install, but ZERO (discoverable) instructions where/how to find and set API key ??

4. When running tmuxai instead of telling me I need an API key. How about putting an actual link to where I can find the API key.

Again well done for launching... sure it took hard word and effort.

We sell CMMS (Maintenance Software) for physical assets, "Corrective Maintenance" and "Planned Preventive Maintenance"

Our main clients are usually restaurants (KFC, JAVAHouse etc).

I did try a few queries to discover similar places:

* Companies with more than 10 physical branches like restaurants or banks (We don't yet support this query)
