LinkedIn used to have this feature called Find Nearby. It allowed you to connect with people near you and it worked really well during large events. It used Bluetooth too.

They removed it some time in 2021 or 2022 unfortunately.

Your idea is nice, but it’d easier if tighter integrated somehow with another platform.

I have a Miele dishwasher in the US. It works great, but normal clean cycle is 2h37m :( it takes forever. Comes out clean though!

I run it on sanitize (baby bottles) with just pods (and rinse aid, it helps getting the water off/dry) and everything comes out squeaky clean. No matter the gunk on it.

Had a Bosch when I lived in Germany. 1h14min for a normal cycle, pods. Came out squeaky clean too. I miss that machine. The extra time the Miele in the US takes is really annoying

I have the same problem and have still not found a workable solution.

Only one there seems to be is to basically rerun 12 years of math, which is really unpleasant because I know 80% of the work making it unrewarding and slow. I don’t know what I don’t know that is super demotivating, indeed.

IRCnet and EFnet still have some activity. Especially #worldchat on IRCnet for generic chat still has fair amount of activity.

Wouldn’t you be measuring the interaction with the ordering device? How can I rate the experience if I didn’t interact with the Barista yet?

One of my general problems with tipping is that I have to tip before someone makes the drink. Then end up with burned coffee I tipped for. This feels the same.

They sell those! They are used frequently in rescue settings. The can is basically a big cubical heavy plastic bag.

Your alternative is of course to fill some plastic bags from your local grocery store like this [1] lady did.

I’ve given friends sets of Wera tools. Many people really appreciate high quality screwdrivers or hex keys.

This seems to focus a lot on the word usage too, which is useful.

Would be great if this combined with PowerPoint Online with Speaker Coach somehow. Then both deck, pace, clarity and word use are addressed. PowerPoint does some of it, but not to the depth that this seems to do it.

Moving abroad does it too. Often with even less questions.

Welp at least he doesn’t have any scaling issues. Scaled down to the minimal set.

Working for one of the hyperscalers as an architect, this is exactly my finding too. RHEL is the standard, everybody runs it. Exceptions are for SAP (SUSE) and some container workloads. RHEL for all the rest.

It is not in the TD Center, its at CIBC Square. Been there for 3 days early April, it’s a really nice office, with lots of space. Views are great too, you can see all over the city and lake.

It depends heavily on your employer. Mine pays the insurance but there is a deductible. That deductible is a bit more than what it is in NL but my monthly costs are zero. It works out to about the same.

NL -> DE -> US for a FAANG, my net income has tripled. Cost of living is similar. Worth it from the view of financial security.

We enjoy the US, especially Washington but will probably move back to the EU in ~7-8 years. Miss a lot of things from Europe though, especially the school system and public transportation.

As an EFnet admin: EFnet ;-) IRCnet is still around too with some very active chat channels (e.g. #worldchat). The networks are much smaller nowadays though.

The way they solve this at a huge pumpkin patch out in Snohomish, WA (not Craven) is by having a member of staff walk down the line and tally up before people hit the register. They write the sizes and sum on a piece of paper, you give it to a cashier. Done. Lines went QUICK.

Didn’t encounter any gotchas. Worked just fine! Couldn’t find one song in my decent amount of playlists with fairly known and more obscure stuff.

Did the migration last night with tune my music[1] and it worked flawlessly. Also, they didn’t want yet another account to spam mail me for months.

Ours was sent to Oregon State too, they got back to us with test results within 6 hours of delivery - 20 hours after I shipped it from the Seattle area. Was pretty impressive :-)

No, DOH + us decided against PEP because the bat didn't get near us. They asked us in umpteen different ways whether or not that was the case.

DOH seemed quite reluctant prescribing PEP mentioning too that it is quite an intensive treatment (who gives though, being dead being the other option).

Yup. Had to pack bat in a freezer ziploc and stick it in the freezer. Then when shipping, pack it in another freezer ziploc with paper towels (for moisture) and a blue ice pack (no dry ice).

After that, put in a box with a UN 3373 category B label affixed to it. Add contents list to the box as required by the label and after that drop off with your mail company of choice (UPS in our case).

Seems to be a common thing, no one bat an eye :)
