This is why I use installable PWAs wherever possible. On my Android phone right now, the Outlook PWA uses 281kB. You still get notifications, but I haven't measured if data usage is higher.

There are any number of email sending providers with API access - Sendgrid, Mailgun, Mailjet, etc. Amazon SES is the most cost effective, but you'd need to do more setup youself vs. one of the API senders.

Roblox has seen massive revenue growth in the pandemic, but by far biggest question is which costs can they get leverage on as they scale. A lot of existing costs seem to increase linearly with revenue/usage (e.g., app store fees, infrastructure, trust & safety).

Always readability, unless you're working on some 0.1% project that absolutely requires bleeding edge performance and latency. Adding compute is cheaper than adding engineers to debug obscure code.

I sure hope so. With all the back and forth with Spotify/Epic/etc. vs. Apple, I've always wondered why at least some app that are not games (dependent on native code for performance) don't invest in/publicize their PWAs. Spotify has a semi-functional PWA.

I have to respectfully disagree here. Smart watches are not really useful in most on-the-go situations. E.g., on a subway and wanting to read the news or play a game.

I'm definitely going to add fail2ban and UFW rate limiting to start with, and look into a firewall on the edge in the unlikely event that GoAccess shows a deluge of traffic. I feel a bit better at least knowing now what the weak point is, so thanks!

Makes sense for a more robust setup. Here's my config; do you think there are any obvious shortcomings with it?

- Port forwarding only 80 and 443 on my router to the RPi. That should be the only incoming traffic allowed through my regular home router. What would a more advanced router add?

- Setup firewall on the RPi using ufw to allow 80 and 443 to Nginx. Port 22 also allowed for SSH only on the local network (I can't edit my site away from home). I think ufw also allows some rate limiting, so will set that up next too.

- Nginx only listens to 80 and 443 to serve content.

I've been working on a way to find Android apps that don't have ads or in app purchases. There are quite a few high quality apps. For example, just replaced Dark Sky weather app with Geometric Weather. I would never have found Geometric Weather without a tool like this.
