If you put 'histcontrol=ignorespace' or 'histcontrol=ignoredups' in your ~/.bashrc file it will not record commands that begin with a space [1]. I believe that 'ignoreboth' is the default on many Linux distros.

This is pretty much standard on hardware benchmarking and review sites. I'm not saying that it's a good design, but it's not unique to this site.

This could be to get more people to link their Microsoft ID with their Windows user accounts so that they will be more likely to use the store in the future. The alternative would be to release it through Windows Update like every other Windows patch for the last decade+.

Unfortunately the best data I can find are from 2010 [1], but Red Hat only contributes 16.3% of the commits to GNOME.

The article didn't really explain the justification for the crackdown on Subutex except for the usual "drugs are bad, mmmkay". It seems like Subutex is a good cure for misery without serious side effects.

I don't think I'd want to use a domain registrar run by people who think that using the mustache meme on their "About Us" page [1] is professional. I'm not usually prudish about language or jokes, but hosting and domains are serious business.

I agree with you. I don't care what the fonts were designed to look like. I only care about readability. The default font settings on Ubuntu hurt my eyes. Thankfully this is easy to fix by switching to full hinting and enabling subpixel rendering.

This is a really important point. TXT files are associated with Notepad by default. If we want README.txt (or README.md/rst/org.txt) files to be read by the least sophisticated users, then they should all have Windows line endings.

I hope that part of their follow-up to this includes information about not being able to fully trust that non-encrypted data on SSD drives can be 100% wiped. Users of hosting services should not be storing extremely sensitive unencrypted information on any shared hardware.

Another option is to run setxkbmap after X starts (using a ~/.xinitrc file or your favorite desktop environment's autorun feature.

I am not a lawyer, but I do know a little bit about DRM. I believe the DMCA makes cracking all forms of DRM illegal except in certain cases which are outlined by the Library of Congress every three years. The last time the exceptions were updated was July 2010 [1], so they will be up for review again in 2013. If I'm interpreting the current guidelines correctly, you can only crack ebook DRM if it is preventing you from using text-to-speech (presumably for blind people or people with poor eyesight).
