These are great suggestions. It’s what I see pros doing, just really hard to get there.

I used to play q3l competitively and I can’t imagine trying to get any real results using a gamepad without help. That’s a neat idea.
This is fun! I wonder how difficult it would be to build something solar for just the mini.
I just threw together my old 1060 in a steamOS - adjacent box running cachyOS. It’s great for couch co-op platformers. The GPUs were overkill for most games then and can still run new indie 2d games now.
Unrelated to your post (I missed those form factors) but has imgur become enshittified too? If I try to zoom in on your picture it gives me a popup I can’t clear telling me to install the app. Sad.
How would one go about running this server, or a part of it? I’m guessing not all the map has to be in ram at the same time right?
I still have my snow leopard usb installer. That was a great OS. It made me switch to daily driving a Mac completely
I’ve been a regular lemmy user for a few years now and it’s gotten better. The communists (and fascist) platforms have been de-federated from the major platforms. It’s still full of Reddit complaining from ex redditors. I don’t think that will change.
My login server is lemmy.world, so if you sign up with something else ymmv.
I have up to 1tb of ddr4 in my server but it only has a 12gb vram 3060. Would getting a 24gb vram make this a viable system or am I throwing money away?
Wow that’s a crazy hack. I never heard of it.
I’ve been a fan of his for years (have stickers and a hoodie for berm peak). In the past couple years I stopped watching his channel because he stopped trail building. His new stuff is for entry level people and I’m sure it gets tons of traffic, but watching him make use of his old back yard and his new one was inspiring and fun.
I wouldn’t put “private” or “secure” in the same product being sold by Microsoft
I’ve wanted a kei truck for a while. Then when you park it next to suburban mom’s expedition/escalade/luxury bus it’s so tiny it looks unsafe. Unfortunately I live in a city where small town trips are difficult without getting on a 70+ mph freeway and competing with those vehicles
American police are much more inclined to escalate any violence instead of trying to de-escalate.
Anecdotal but I’m a sysadmin in the IT dept in my rather larger company and have zero issues with office on my daily driver m2 Mac Pro. On my Dell precision running win 11 I constantly have issues with outlook, teams, etc.
You either fall behind/into a rut, or like you said, get let go. It’s scary
This is why I love HN
I’m in the same boat. I have a couple floor standers for audio, but I added a center channel and it helped with dialogue
From my understanding it’s not which soundbar that’s the issue, it’s that you’re only using a soundbar for audio. The channels all get compressed into one device with a couple speakers instead of whatever it was originally created for, like five or seven speakers with a subwoofer
Thanks for mentioning you use Arch. I would have had to ask otherwise. I’m jk of course
There’s still a few large ones. LANfest and quakecon are two that come to mind. Also LAN all night.
As someone else mentioned in another thread, this could be what you’re looking for. Unfortunately it’s above my impulse budget https://shop.mntre.com/products/mnt-pocket-reform
And even then “Shut down” didn’t actually shut down when there were updates. It was “install updates and reboot”
I daily my work MacBook without an Apple account or phone number. And no, it’s not in ABM, or any other MDE. App Store is unavailable because of the missing account, but it does not prevent me from using the device like you’re claiming.
I use wireless almost exclusively. ANC in the office is a must. I also know that a good pair of wired headphones will have way more fidelity than AirPods. But I do have some nice wired headphones and I pair them to my iPhone with the Fiio BTR5. It’s been a good mix of the two. I’m of the mindset to go back to an mp3 player and use the fiio to connect to my car Bluetooth
I just retired my m1 air to being a server this month. They’re very capable laptops. If the neo is even comparable in spec it’s excellent for the price
Does keeping it on one stick make it more performant? I have a epyc server with 1tb of 64 gig sticks and a 3060, looking to maximize what models I can run on it
Running 32b on what hardware?
Hasn’t that been the discussion since the laptops/desktops went arm?
You have a site where i can learn more? I'd like to implement my own.
