I'm always happy to be convinced that someone has seen something I've missed in all of this hype about crypto, but when you say things like...

'imagine if you could fork Amazon and launch a direct competitor'

..you've lost me. Amazon is not a code base. It has over 500,000 employees who work hard to serve its customers. How do you fork that?

I would offer another, better example but I can't think of one. Web 2.0 companies are so far ahead that web 3.0 is going to have to come up with something completely different to be commercially interesting.

Interesting observation:

I also see a major extrovert bias, which might seem a little funny for tech.

But, again, product managers (or, God forbid, Sales people) are all really subject to the “let’s just get some people in a room” style of planning and problem resolution.

I firmly believe some massive amount of productivity is squandered from people choosing the wrong communication paradigm.

Bizarre answer to this question. How is he shorting Uber? In his own mind?

Q: Do you really think Uber is going to collapse or be bought up by another company?

A: Look , I don’t have the internal numbers to – I’m not like . . . the hedge fund guy, Jim Chanos, who shorted Enron. He had lots of research and researched this stuff. . . . Let’s put it this way: I’m shorting Uber.

FWIW, I thought this would be of interest to hackers as I think Mike Rowe exemplifies the hacker ethos of crossing boundaries to get a new perspective on problems.

If all you do is sing from the same hymn sheet all the time, you're going to get the same song </strained analogy>

Apple on par with Atari and Activision. Love it.

Note non-PC fellow in upper right - "I heard it was crawling with headhunters"!

Salient point (TIL)...

We also check our bottles regularly and replace the corks every 25-30 years, which gives us an opportunity to monitor the quality of the wine.

---- Presumably they are checking its 'drinkability' among its other qualities!
