A lot of those people work for adtechs. Once you realize that 50% of bigtech is relying almost entirely on ads, a lot of people are simply advocating for keeping their FAANG salaries by forcing us to watch debilitating ads.

I am an introvert and absolutely hate group behaviors and nonsensical smalltalk around lunch time. However I have no issue being a manager and talking to people on 1:1s or with a clean agenda and subject to discuss.

The typical googler is a 20 or 30-something that has close to zero life interest outside work. I would not expect them to want to stay remote as their social life revolves around Google.

Sadly, from what I have seen most people with a good work life balance want to stay remote while people with few other life interests want absolutely go back to work.

I predict that in a couple years this will be part of the culture of each company. You will chose a company based on your desire to become close friends with your colleagues or live a great life outside the office.

Good point. And the company behind Android mainly wants to ensure they can get as much data from you as possible. You will never fully be able to disable the data upload to Google.

I am with you. There is a huge lobby to make people buy houses. Not enough people question if it is a good investment. The opportunity cost to buy vs rent is huge.

Even with the leverage, it is in most cases still not a good investment. There are a lot of calculator out there that shows you the break even point between renting and buying.

You forget all the horrible fees that come with owning a place (HOA, maintenance, property taxes, 6% lost to agents at every transaction)

That's a weird comment. Plenty of people are rich by your definition (could easily buy a house) but don't do it because it makes no sense financially. Most good investors are better off renting and getting higher returns in the stock market. Renting also allows you to move very quickly and you don't spend your time fixing things (i let my landlord handle it all)
