Apparently I'm out of the loop, but it took a fair amount of reading to discover that Phoenix is a framework for Elixir. It's only mentioned in passing on the Phoenix project's homepage, very easy to miss.

Just strikes me as odd and makes it less approachable. Most other projects I've encountered present themselves as a part of the language's ecosystem where it seems like it's assumed here. E.g. React calls itself a JavaScript library.

Normally you configure your a record to point at the cdn as the cdn is the thing that gives you multiple points of failure (caches all over the world). Hard to have a fallback to that. Running multiple cdns would be extremely expensive. Cdn caches are kept useful by traffic running through them, so hard to have a backup for that too.

It looks like this translates Pocky in different positions to lines of code and then executes that code. This is too many levels of abstraction even for me to make sense of as a professional programmer... I like where their heart is but I think this would be a terrible introduction to coding.

Thank you. This is the first comment I've seen on the Yale controversy that actually points out the larger context at Yale and New Haven. The school mentioned that students should think twice about wearing blackface for Halloween because there are people here who might actually do such a thing.

There is a stark division of class which is invisible from most people's computer screens, but is very uncomfortable living here. Most of the people who attend Yale are highly privileged. But, if you're not part of the university, you are probably living in poverty here. Seeing this video being recontextualized by the Internet as part of this "Us vs SJWs" debate is infuriating.
