Depends on your level of paranoia. I use an encrypted file on disk to store a client and keys. I back this up offsite incase I get ransomwared. That's good enough for me.

Thanks for the heads up. This is something that I've wondered about with working from home. I think I'd like 1 or 2 days per week at home and rest in the office for ideal ratio.

I think if done in Haskell how good or bad it is depends on the chosen abstraction for effects not Haskell itself.

Haskell is a good basis but the developers need to make the API fool proof. E.g. expose limited effects rather than a big fat "IO" type.

In Haskell everything is public by default unless you specify exports for the module.

Not just the code but hopefully the compiler and processors (at large i.e. Intel) have no bugs that causes unintuitive behaviour.

I've wondered about that for signalling. Say for example there is a revered tech company in your city. Get their tshirt and people might assume you work there. Go to Meetup and more people may want to chat with you etc.

I think the parent is observing reality rather than saying things should be this way in an ideal world.

I guess I'm lucky in that I don't have much of a career mapped out. I enjoy coding and although I'd like to run a business in the future it's going to be a lifestyle one most likely.

Ironically my (our) net wealth has increased fastest while having children simply by buying a suitable house before a boom kicked off in my city. Outstripping my wages and any E(V) from starting a business!

It should engender those things but it won't for everyone. Plenty of examples out there of where it hasnt.
