He’s also well respected in the Python community for maintaining the cryptography package, partially written in Rust. This is just a random blog post, not an ad.

My solution was to approach a project by turning it into as many tiny steps as possible. That way I could get a few really easy wins under my belt. For example, each step would be a task such as "Search for ______ on Google" or "Have a conversation with ______." We did not really know what to expect when posting these job offers. It turns out that we received much more applications than expected!

We decided that before expanding our engineering team to all timezones, we would first consider timezones that are +/- 2 hours from Paris time. As I said in another child comment, we do have (non-technical) employees in the US, but we changed our mind about technical employees for now. Sorry, this is not in the job offer itself: it's no longer possible to edit it.

The offer says "BS or PhD" and said so before your comment. We accept anything, even no diploma, and do not require anything above a BS. It turns out that our best candidates had the most education, but we would love to be proven wrong for our next hire.

I cannot thank you enough for the work Bruce Miller, you and others are doing on LaTeXML.

However, LaTeXML is not 100% feature-complete at all (sorry if this is not what you were saying). For anybody not knowing how to improve LaTeXML itself (eg. by adding support for missing LaTeX packages), the only way to get it working is by using it from the beginning to avoid using anything that would not work out of the box in LaTeXML.

They looked at the data. In Work Rules!, Laszlo Bock (head of People Operations at Google) writes:

« So in 2007 we started looking for themes across the ten thousand or so people we had hired, as well as the millions we didn’t. In addition to testing technical hires on their engineering ability, we realized that there were four distinct attributes that predicted whether someone would be successful at Google:

1. General Cognitive Ability. Not surprisingly, we want smart people who can learn and adapt to new situations. Remember that this is about understanding how candidates have solved hard problems in real life and how they learn, not checking GPAs and SATs. »

The three others are Leadership, "Googleyness" and Role-Related Knowledge.

This is the whole point, albeit unexplained: you need to launch as much birds as possible in continuous orbit.

You can think of this as a square matrix W. The size of the matrix is the size of the vocabulary. If we look at the 100k most frequent words in our corpus, W will be a 100k x 100k matrix.

The value of W(i,j) is the distance between words i and j, and a row of the matrix is the vector representation of that word. Research around word vectors is all about computing W(i,j) in an efficient way that is also useful in natural language processing applications.

Word vectors are often used to compute similarity between words: since words are represented as vectors, we can compute the cosine angle between a given pair of words to find out how similar the two words are.
