This only makes sense if the underlying thing that gets exposed after you put in the password is a block device... I'd want to then be able to have that encrypted with LUKS myself, I don't want to rely on this homebrew stuff.

What a badly written article. How could you leave out the N900 and the development history that came before it? If it wasn't for Elop and Microsoft, Nokia could have dominated and we wouldn't be stuck with mostly proprietary phones.

We're still waiting to solve that problem...

Haskell definitely needs to improve a lot of things, but moving to python is obviously a mistake for most cases. Golang is probably the best language for LLM things, it's got reasonably strong types, compiles very fast, and is simple. Much nicer to work with than Rust for example. But these days most code should probably be golang or rust if you're not building a webui.

The codex software is garbage compared to Claude, but open source is the future, so you should at least switch.

For many years, I've wanted ED-209 (robocop) voice from something like espeak or similar. Still can't find anything good.

Not for chat, just as a way to make notification messages that sound like ED-209.

I like the privacy conscious aspects. Apart from the obvious issue of "run it through Claude" how many of those referenced analysis tools are entirely open source or at least run locally? Would have liked to see that in the article.

When this is a good quality Laser printer let me know. Nobody really wants inkjet that's not for high end photo printing.

The difference between this one (good) and the Anthropic program (bad) is that openai doesn't force you into a marketing clause while Anthropic does.

I mean seriously, you already ripped off all the worlds open source code. Be more generous and don't demand anything else back. Six months is so little too.

I don't know why they aren't doing more booster catches. Kind of a bit disappointed they keep skipping. Either they can land them or they can't. If it's not consistent then they're avoiding the possible failure so their stock price (launching soon) stays up, otherwise just prove it's solid and actually works.

I like a device with these kinds of specs and this size, but I'd want all of this and all the hardware on the flipper zero as well. Seems all the RF/radio stuff is gone :/ I'd want at least that and more.

It's so obvious that many of the bugs being found are/were most likely M$ backdoors.

There doesn't seem to be any other plausible explanation. The reckoning needs to come and people need to stop using their products for good.

Would love a whistleblower to explain which part of the government or company forced it.

I love this. I'd rather see bans when you get sent from one of the google search redirect links. I know they want to track the exits... Maybe mess those up!

I actually even tried to get the AI models to build such a theme, but they couldn't figure it out! They would just generate something wrong. When that works, I'm interested!

Oh wow. I tried zed, but I couldn't get the colour scheme to make the whole thing look like the classic "cobalt" from gedit/gtksourceview. I am legit willing to pay fair $ if someone wants to build such a theme for me.
