I laughed and cried at this comment. It's so uncannily EU. Just spent 18 months landing an EU enterprise contract. Signed today and sent it back and got an automated message 'sorry will be on vacation til end of July...' This is the fourth vacation emails I got since corresponding with this contact window for the past 1 year.

ha even better on /r/localllm husbands are scratching their head why their wives and kids just won't use their local chatgpt. It's fast and i bought 4 5090 for this why won't they use it!

Brothers, maybe they don't want you to see all their private chats with AI?

several of my friends named their chatgpt 'Amanda' or 'George' because they talked about real mental issues with it. I don't see them moving to another platform because that's essentially asking them to leave their 'best friend/therapist'.

Regardless of how Apple will solve this, please just solve it. Siri is borderline useless these days.

Will it rain today? Please unlock your iphone for that

Any new messages from Chris? You will need to unlock your iphone for that

Please play youtube music Playing youtube music... please open youtube music app to do that

All settings and permission granted. Utterly painful.

There's that and then there are companies spending 100k on a software suite just to use that 2 features. So now one of their junior dev solves it and becomes a hero. The truth it always somewhere in the middle.

i dont see dotcom technologies replacing droves of workers and creating panics in /r/screenwriters, /r/3dmodelers etc. The displacement is real and we are not going back. Dotcom tech created fake problems so their 'advance technology solution' can be presented as solution. With AI wave, it's the opposite - business heads are actually thinking 'what other real problems can i solve with AI'. OpenAi and Claude don't even have to do any preaching. That's real value.

i just hashout out the details with claude. apparently it would cost me ~8k USD to retrieve all Taipei street images from gmap api with 3m density. Expensive, but not impossible.

me too. and they are pushing new updates everyday. If you are a emacs/vim user claude code is really pushing what's possible with a terminal app (the loading text, custom command, auto cursor refresh)

It's not just the cutting edge node. Arizona chips will still be shipped back to Taiwan because TSMC only do Fan-out PoP packaging there. This will unlikely change for the next 5 factories. This is a good win win for everyone. Trump gets to parrot jobs back in america slogan, TSMC gets some extra money to scale out production to 64% of their revenue customer (US based) and Taiwan gets to keep what is really, really important.

Having been in Taiwan for 10 years, comments like these totally ignore the differences in personal traits and 誠信 between Terry Guo and Morris Chang. TSMC and the entire upper management is build differently than Foxconn. After all, Arizona factory is about to be up and running no?

I also dont get how this is bearish for NVDA. Before this, small to mid companies would give up on finetuning their own model because openai is just so much better and cheaper. Now deepseek SOTA model gives them much better quality baseline model to train on. Wouldn't more people want to RAG on top of deepseek? or some startups accountant would run the numbers and figures we can just inference the shit out of deepseek locally and in the long run we still come out ahead of using oenai api.

Either way that means a lot more NVDA hardware being sold. You still need CUDAs as rocm is still not there yet. In fact NVDA needs to churn out more CUDAs than ever.
