1) The process of content selection shifts from the user to the service provider, liability for copyright infringement also shifts because now they have influence over and responsibility for the content selection process.

2) The user of a content aggregation service is paying (directly via money transfer or indirectly by seeing ads) for the content selection, not only for the provision of an automated service to retrieve feeds. One could argue that the revenue the service provider creates with content selection is based on the publisher's content, the publisher therefore should get a share of it.

In that case the boundaries of freedom are not defined by the constitution any more, but by private parties. Therefore any constitutional stipulation of 'freedom of speech' is practically worthless. Freedom can not only be measured by the existence of a constitutional construct.

Edit: Installed it on another device and the app only says "Hello world!". Seems like the Play Store distributes different versions for smartphones and tablets.

Are you trying to argue with me? Because I haven't made any argument for or against Russia or the West in my post. I just pointed out that facts can be interpreted in different ways. That shouldn't prevent anyone from taking a stand, but it's important to know how "the truth" works.

I believe western politicians don't really care about facism at this point as long it is pro-western instead of pro-russian facism. And from a geopolitical point of view that might be the right thing to do in the current situation.

And how exactly do you determine "the truth"? The western view is probably viewed as propaganda in Russia. There is no such thing as an objective point of view.

Google wouldn't need to acquire the project if they wanted a desktop app. It's just a client ... nothing Google engineers couldn't handle.

They didn't "drop HTML5 for native". They only had a website and now they've integrated the service into their Dark Sky app.

I'm using nvALT but I would never sync my private (as in "private diary") notes with an unencrypted web service. For "transactional notes" like shopping lists I use Simplenote though, because the Android app syncs really fast. Plus I'm using Evernote for saving websites because it's the best solution for saving the whole content including images and tables.

For me the best choice is still an analog alarm clock, because it doesn't tempt me to check my mails or read my feeds in the morning instead of preparing for truly important work.

I did this a year ago. I used the mobile site because it has less JS and iMacros[1] to delete the posts. Took me about an hour to delete approximately 900 posts.

Antwort seems more trustworthy. Making HTML emails look good on all devices and apps is a real problem. If you view the source of a HTML mail you see crazy stuff. It feels a lot like the nineties with all that table tags.

TED sometimes seems to me like a collection of sales pitches for books that take four to ten scientific papers about a topic and go on and on ... and on about it. I liked this kind of book but now I give up on them after one or two chapters and read about the main ideas on Wikipedia.

But ... there is a lot of good stuff on TED too like Bruce Schneier's talks.

A cheap notebook would be around 350 bucks. You can get "real work" done with them (like with any Macbook) but it's no fun to use them in the living room on the sofa.

It would be impractical in a hospital. It's relatively heavy and where would you put it when you don't need it without risking theft? And how would you prevent unauthorized access to hospital records when stolen? I think the whole tablet at hospitals thing is a fantasy.

I don't know why Microsoft is doing this to themselves. Instead if being the best in one market they try to create a new one which competes with the tablet and ultrabook market. But their product can be never as good as a tablet or ultrabook. I just don't think that there are many people who are willing to accept that trade-off.
