UberX is essentially Lyft. Do you know if the driver involved was an UberX driver or a professional driver? His car make/model seems to indicate UberX.

What if the cause for the accident was that the driver was responding to a 'ride available' text from Uber? It's not a bad argument to say that Uber requires that drivers pay attention to their cell phone when not in an active ride, hence they should be liable when the driver is able to respond to pick up requests (ie, is looking to do a pickup)

Way to not apologize or really 'fix' the issue. For all users who don't opt out (which they don't say will be default) this vulnerability will still exist and be exploitable. They'll just make it (somewhat) harder.

There's opportunity here. Exec, Über, Lyft etc get rid of tipping for cleaning, taxis and I love it. I am happy to know total cost upfront. Matter of time before this is extended to food service.

As a developer, I find myself saying that more often than I would like. Glad this isn't just a developer thing that Apple does - it seems like a consistent part of their DNA.

This is how doctors in India (and a lot of other countries) work, and it's super efficient. His prices feel very competitive to me. I would carry a high-deductible insurance plan for catastrophes but this would otherwise be a great option.

More doctors need to follow this lead.

Thanks. Most media sites have Open Graph tags - I wonder why Twitter didn't just reuse those. I understand they're from a competitor but they are somewhat standard. All these proprietary tags add unnecessary overhead to developers and bloat to pages. Sigh!

As a legal immigrant who has been in the country for 12 years and still waiting for a green card, I'm willing to accept that the administration will reject this bill if and only if it makes good on its promise for comprehensive reform. I also oppose the idea of cannibalizing the diversity visas - that seems to go against the spirit of the foundation of America's origins.
