If we fix the issue with the H1-B system by letting them become permanent residents quicker, wouldn't that fix the problem faster?. The consequences would be that there is no longer a motivation to only hire H1-B workers.

Thank you for mentioning Patrice O'Neal and Norm MacDonald in the same breath. We really lost comedy greats that cannot be filled by anyone anytime soon.

While it is unfortunate this person have not liked the move to Austin. I personally moved from the Bay Area to Austin early 2010s. I can finally have a reasonably affordable place to raise a family. Summers are bad yes. But, i grew up in even hotter place before. For a mid 30s guy like myself, i think I made a right move by moving here. Don't get me wrong I love the Bay area. But family life and simple life triumphs any other benefits for me. Which I have plenty here in Austin. If you are thinking about moving to Austin, it really is a good place.

I have no idea what happened during the early 2010s. I grew up during the late 90s (born in late 80s) learning about the internet and its philosophies. Allowing Free speech still is the hill I'd like to die on. But the new generation of people, even here on HN and the internet hacker personalities I used to align with have turned so pro-censorship that I don't believe I'm in a proper reality/timeline anymore.

Sure. Let's assume that there are top secret research programs. What this tells us is that the research had yeilded such results as

* Super High Density energy storage mechanism, that when being used actually cools down instead of heating up

* An energy source that isn't based around burning fossil fuels for propulsion, that is highly efficient.

* A device that could atleast in theory be using some kind of an inertial cancellation mechanism.

Any of this could be a solution to climate change. Why would our own governments lie and put the future of this planet in jeapordy?. Just so they can win the next war but lose a Future?.

The idea that this is some kind of a secret research project doesn't add up.

Aren't most of these happening in majority left wing states and cities run by the left. AFAIK they are still report the Mayors of the cities. Let's not make this a Right vs Left thing any more. The country is already divided as it is, we don't need further division in this country.

I think a bit of background is in order here. H4 EAD's are only issued for People with pending Greencard applications, that is for someone with an approved Greencard petition.(I-140). So, for some one from the countries you have described, there is no greencard wait times. Which means, a spouse on H4 visa would not have to wait-forever to get work authorization as the primary petition holder can quickly get their Greencard. Not the case for someone "Born" in countries like India, where the wait-times for Greencard is currently at a minimum 10 years and at a maximum 120 years. So, yes this really looks like it is being targeted against people born in a single country.

Even with the best estimates for people born in India, the Green Card wait times are at least 10+ years to 120 years. What are the spouses of such people ought to do?.

There seems to be no interest in fixing the root cause of the problem. The only partial fix for the problem is to let the spouses of approved GC petitioners work. But, this administration is bent on removing those provisions, without providing a fix for the problem in the first place.
