No, all text and images are 100% man-made. It's always astonishing how many people don't understand the crucial role of (open source) software and climate change. Just look at the massive greenwashing that has taken place in recent years with manipulated CO2 offsetting figures. If we want to trust numbers about the impact on our environment and their part of our prices, there is no way around making these numbers traceable using open source / open science methods. And LLMs are not traceable.
This is intentional, as the podcast is a collaboration between two communities: OpenSustain.tech with a focus on how to sustain the environment with open source and SustainOSS with a focus on how to sustain open source as a movement.

I use Feedblocker for all social media and have to say it is a real relief. I can still participate when I'm mentioned, but I can now focus on what I think is relevant to me instead of letting big companies decide what might be relevant to me or how best to capture my attention span. A total of 1,339 active projects were analyzed and grouped into fields by their primary areas of focus. Projects were then analyzed based on their popularity, longevity, programming languages, licenses, number of contributors, organizational diversity, and other factors.

Today, about 40% of the inhabitable land is used for feeding livestock. Removing subsidies in this area could very quickly bring back biodiversity, fight climate change and increase food security worldwide. The rapid development of AI could lead to people generally being frightened away from digital products. In my own social environment, I see more and more people who used to be very enthusiastic about computers turning away to more analog entertainment and work.
Blindly developing technology only as part of the "power play" without solving real problems is no longer justifiable. AI is starting to create significantly more problems than it has actually solved, comparable to the fossil fuel industry.
This is one of those typical cases of legal departments that have run out of work and are looking for legitimacy for their own existence. Many lawyers are able to expand their own economic sphere without generating any added value for the general public.

This gives you a good feeling that you are at least not part of the problem. An open source / open science strategy at least prevents greenwashing and allows to at least focus on measures that actually save emissions. However, as long as the systemic / economic problem behind climate change is not solved, someone else will simply create the emissions for you.

I can absolutely understand you. A lot of what is done in this area is unfortunately greenwashing and is meant to make you feel good. That's why open source is so important for "impact" measurements. Conclusions based on open satellite data and open source processing pipelines are very difficult to "greenwash". Let numbers based on empirical measurements and open models decide what is actually sustainable for the climate, rather than opaque marketing.
