I too wish Opus got more love in the video space. Outside of YouTube and VOIP, it doesn't get used.

It's very easy to create simple toys with Godot, because it has a Python-like scripting and good UI.

Political videos on YouTube has the widest spectrum when it comes to quality.

You can get highly informative, mind-changing videos with 10k-30k views. And on the other end, hot-take, "debate me bro!" Twitch personalities with 1M-3M views.

I suppose it depends on perspective. MC Alpha these days lacks performance optimisation, and cannot beat the extensibility of Minetest IMO.

I'm also a fan of Lain. Looking back, I think it's best if you watch Neon Genesis Evangelion first, and then go into Lain with the expectation that half of the scenes were inspired by the trippy introspective scenes in Eva.

As someone who watched Lain first, I found it much harder to follow as half of the scenes were distinctively dream-like and weren't "happening".

Most countries (including those outside the west) are falling, or have fallen below replacement rate.

If we extrapolate this over the next few decades, and accept the conclusion that more technology = less children, and we can expect to see more technology in the future. Almost no new children will be born from within these high-tech societies, we will have to rely on immigration from Africa (the only place where replacement rate is high), and low-tech traditional religious societies.

What good is technology in this future scenario?

I'd recommend checking out zpaq[1], it purposed for backups, and has great compression (even on low setting) for large 100GB+ file collections. However for smaller stuff I use zstd at level 22 in a tar for most things since it's much faster, though a little heavier.

Recently won an award for being power & resource-efficient by German group Blue Angel. Not from Germany, so not familiar with the award, and how much weight it holds.

Had no idea it was also for Windows, I might have to start recommending it to friends/family instead of Sumatra.

Don't need AMD RDNA 2 for Gamecube. I'm able to play Gamecube on Dolphin just fine on my Thinkpad T430 with Intel Integrated Graphics.

Framerates are very playable, but fall short of perfect. No up-scaling used.

This can happen more invisibility then an old-school forum (glad Brave is including those BTW), since this unnatural behavior can be easily identified, because of the smaller community, and site that isn't based around upvotes.
